Our MLB handicapper breaks down Saturday’s game between Oakland and Toronto. Read on before making any of your MLB picks today, and profit from experienced insight.

Oakland (Bassitt) vs Toronto ( Happ)
Toronto (8-9) will host Oakland (9-7) in the second of a three game weekend series. Current MLB odds at has Toronto as a -153 money line favorite, and the posted total is 9.0.

Oakland took the series opener 8-5 on Friday night. It was the sixth straight win in a row for Oakland. It also snapped a six game losing streak for Oakland at the Rogers Centre in Toronto. The game easily went over the total of 8.0, and it marked the first time in nine outings that Toronto failed to stay under the number. Since the start of the 2014 season, these American League teams have gone 10-3-1 under the total during fourteen games against one another.

Starting Pitchers
Oakland will send right-hander Chris Bassitt to the mound for this Saturday matinee affair. Bassitt has made three starts in 2016, and has posted a stellar 2.79 ERA. This will be his first career start versus Toronto. Bassitt appeared in 18 games for Oakland a season ago, including 13 starts, and posted a respectable 3.56 ERA.

Toronto will go with southpaw A.J. Happ on the hill. This will be the fourth start of the season for Happ, and he’s compiled a superb 1.89 ERA thus far. Happ has made five career starts against Oakland with all of them coming since 2013, and had an excellent 2.01 ERA during those outings.

Road Warriors vs. Inconsistent Start
Oakland has begun the 2016 season by winning their first seven road games. Friday was the first time in seven away games that Oakland had allowed more than 3 runs. As a matter of fact, they’re allowing just 2.3 runs per game on the road. The Oakland bullpen has been terrific during their seven road contests, posting an excellent 1.53 ERA as a staff, and they’ve converted on all five of their save opportunities.

The defending AL East champion Toronto Blue Jays have endured and up and down beginning to this 2016 MLB campaign. They enter Saturday on a three game losing streak and it marks the second time already this season in which that has occurred. The Blue Jays also had a four game winless streak during the first week of the season.

Final Take and Pick
Oakland has gone 1-3 this season when facing a southpaw starting pitcher. Considering how well J.A. Happ has pitched against Oakland in recent years, I look for Toronto to get back on the winning track, and one of my Saturday MLB picks will follow suit.
