We are placing our MLB picks for Dodgers vs. Rockies over the run total, noting that two guys with only 26 career starts between them take the mound in the hot mountain air of Colorado.
Not a Lot to Work With
With both pitchers only seeing limited action in their major league careers there might some guess work in regards to how they will fare today. That guess work seems to have put forth for us with MLB odds makers coming out with a line of 10.5. Seems really big, but in Colorado both teams should put up some good numbers on the board.
Mike Bolsinger gets the start for the Dodgers and he has pitched well this year with a 1.15 ERA and WHIP under 1.00. He has also already faced the Rockies once this year allowing zero earned runs in six innings, this fact makes me look harder at that line. Chad Bettis gets the start for the Rockies and comes in with a 2.96 ERA and 1.06 WHIP. Like Bolsinger, but the other way, he has already faced the Dodgers once this year but did not do well allowing four earned in five innings.
The line might reflect a couple things in this spot, neither Bolsinger nor Bettis are as good as their numbers this season. In six starts in AAA Bettis had a 3.97 ERA and in over 25 starts in AAA Bolsinger had an ERA over 4.00.
These teams went for 28 hits and 17 runs yesterday and I am looking for them to continue the hot bats. Both Dodgers and the Rockies are in the top ten in the league in most offensive categories. One key stat that I like is the Dodgers rank 1st in on base % plus slugging and the Rockies 3rd in this category.
When placing your MLB picks, look for a lot of quality at bats today and a high scoring affair between these two teams. Bolsinger and Bettis are going to have their hands full today, take the over.
