I am looking for the bats to break out today in St. Louis so I will be backing the over for my MLB picks when the Dodgers take on the Cardinals.

The Line
MLB odds makers have come out with the line at 7.5 for the total in this game.  To me that seems a bit high with two quality pitchers on the mound, but I will be backing the odds makers today on the over.  The Dodgers have been blanked on the road in four straight contests, but they are one of the best hitting teams in the league and should break out today.

Michael Wacha comes in with a 1.87 ERA and a WHIP just above 1.00.  He has been fantastic this year allowing only four runs in one game just once in nine starts. For the Dodgers Carlos Frias takes the mound and he has been solid except last game where he gave up ten earned runs in just four innings of work… yikes.  Other than that start, he has been pretty good at times this year but he still has a career ERA over 5.00 in 22 games pitched with seven of them starts.

Time to break out
Getting out of their recent road slump is not going to be an easy task with Wacha on the hill.  Still the Dodgers rank in the upper part of the league in every major offensive category and rank 1st in on base percentage and slugging percentage.  The Cardinals also rank in the upper half of the league in most offensive categories and rank 4th in hits per game and on base percentage.

A good hitting team like the Dodgers is due to break out and I look for them to get to Wacha just a bit today. The Cardinals on the other end should be able to do their fair of damage against Frias, back the over with your MLB picks.
