Our resident MLB handicapping professional is at it again by going 6-2-1 the last three days. He provides us with a betting preview on Thursday’s game between the Phillies and Dodgers.
Phillies play Series Finale at Dodger Stadium on Thursday
The Dodgers entertain the Phillies tonight in the finale of a four game series. The first pitch is slated for 10:10 PM ET. Clayton Kershaw tossed a complete game shutout in a 5-0 Dodgers win on Wednesday. The Dodgers have taken two of the first three games in this series.
Philadelphia will send right-hander Severino Gonzalez to the mound tonight. Gonzalez has posted a terrible 8.28 ERA and 1.76 WHIP in six starts this season. He’s been even worse in his previous three, posting a mammoth 9.49 ERA, and allowed 4 home runs in 12 1/3 innings pitched.
Zack Greinke has been unquestionably the best starting pitcher in baseball during the first half of the 2015 MLB campaign. All he has done in seventeen starts is post an incredible 1.48 ERA and 0.89 WHIP. It’s difficult to fathom, but he’s been even better during his last four starts. In those outings, Greinke allowed no earned runs and had a spectacular 0.65 WHIP.
Phillies Road Woes
Philadelphia has gone an abysmal 11-33 on the road this season. That includes 9-31 as a money line underdog of +100 or more. They’re allowing an average of 5.4 runs per game on the road, and opponents have a stellar team batting average of .293 in Phillies away games. The Philadelphia bullpen has an atrocious 1.61 WHIP in away tilts.
Dangerous Dodgers at Home and against Righties
The Dodgers have gone a very good 30-16 at home in 2015. They’ve really done well when facing right-handed starting pitchers this year, going 40-29, smacking 97 home runs in those 69 games, and compiling an excellent .449 slugging percentage.
I can’t make a case for the pathetic Phillies tonight in any way, shape, or form. They’re the worst team in baseball, and will be facing the best starting pitcher on the planet this evening. This has all the ear marks of an absolute blowout, and one of my MLB picks on Thursday will be reflective of that prediction. 5Dimes provides with me with the most reasonable price for a run-line wager.
MLB Pick: Dodgers -1.5 (-135) as a run-line pick at 5Dimes.
