Two titans of the National League square off again after a closely contested bout in Game 1 on Tuesday. Here are our Dodgers-Mets Same Game Parlay picks for Wednesday.

The Dodgers won but failed to cover the Run Line Tuesday, washing our same-game parlay down the drain despite two of the three legs cashing. How do the two top teams in the NL stack up for Wednesday? And will Timmy Trumpet get to play live during an Edwin Diaz entrance?

Here are my same-game parlay picks for Wednesday’s Dodgers-Mets matchup (odds via FanDuel Sportsbook; Pick confidence is based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Mets -1.5 (+140) ★★★★

Most baseball fans are familiar with closer Edwin Diaz's epic entrance music, Timmy Trumpet’s song "Narco." Mr. Trumpet was on hand at Citi Field on Tuesday, ready for a live performance. But the Dodgers won, and without a save situation, no Diaz appearance occurred. The artist will be at the ballpark to give it one more try on Wednesday. And we’ll get the trumpets this time.

The Mets should be able to cover the run line on Wednesday behind ace starter Jacob deGrom. The nastiest pitcher in baseball when healthy, deGrom has been in top form throughout August. Though the game is likely to be low-scoring, I can envision the Mets scratching off a couple of runs against Tyler Anderson. That may be all they need to cover this line.

The Mets are one of five MLB teams with an above .500 record as a home favorite against the run line in 2022. With the trumpets blaring, I like New York to continue that trend on Wednesday.

DeGrom Over 8.5 strikeouts (-130) ★★★★

This is a lofty strikeout total, but deGrom still offers value here. He's cleared this total in each of his last four starts while twice hitting double-digit strikeouts. DeGrom is a freak of nature, and he should still be able to do his thing even against a vaunted Dodgers lineup.

Los Angeles doesn’t average 8.5 strikeouts per game as a team in 2022, but the Dodgers aren’t infallible. They rank 13th in MLB in strikeouts per game, and the club is certainly susceptible to deGrom’s greatness.

Because we’re using the Over/Under on pitcher strikeouts for Wednesday's same-game parlay, FanDuel is the best place to make your bet.

Anderson Under 4.5 strikeouts (-150) ★★★

New York boasts one of the league's lowest strikeout rates while whiffing just 7.59 times per game, fourth-best in MLB. The Mets strike out slightly more frequently against lefties compared to righties. But it’s not a difference that compels me to back Anderson after we haven’t seen much swing-and-miss stuff from him in recent weeks.

Anderson has been effective, but he doesn't rack up many strikeouts. Though he struck out five Mets batters during his lone appearance against New York in 2022, that was back on June 3 when he was regularly fanning more hitters. In his last nine starts, Anderson has eclipsed four strikeouts just twice over his last nine starts.

The odds are boosted significantly on the other side of this prop. But a gaudy strikeout night for Anderson isn't nearly as likely to happen against this disciplined Mets lineup.
