Alex Wood and the Dodgers have been money at home in Los Angeles, and the MLB odds say they’ll continue that tonight in Game 2 of their set against the Diamondbacks.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs Los Angeles Dodgers

Slowly but surely, the Los Angeles Dodgers are beginning to pull away in the NL West. They can add another game of cushion at the top of the division tonight when the set with the Arizona Diamondbacks continues, and the board says the Dodgers do just that as -210 favorites in a mound battle between Zack Godley and Alex Wood.

Clayton Kershaw tossed seven shutout frames on Tuesday to key LA’s 4-3 win. Bookmaker closed the Dodgers on a -320 money line, the 156th consecutive start for Kershaw as the favorite. The teams split a 4-game set at Chavez Ravine earlier this season, the Dodgers’ victories both going ‘over’ while Arizona’s triumphs failed to reach the totals. Tuesday’s win leaves the Dodgers 21-4 in the last 25 meetings in LA.

Wood With 45+ IP Homerless Streak At Dodger Stadium
A string of 5-straight Arizona wins in his starts ended in Godley’s last trip to the mound a week ago against the Cardinals. The former Tennessee star was simply outdueled by St. Louis veteran Adam Wainwright, Godley allowing three in his seven frames of 2-hit baseball. He was perfect the first three innings before a walk and hit batsmen fueled a 3-run fourth for the Redbirds. This is his first look at Los Angeles this season, and just his second career start at Dodger Stadium where he no-decisioned in an assignment last year (6 IP, 3 ER).

Wood is looking for his 10th win of the season while the Dodgers hope to run their string to 10-straight dubyas behind the southpaw. He has closed -210 on the MLB Betting Lines the last two starts, beating the Rockies at home and Padres on the road with six innings of 1-run baseball each outing. The former Georgia Bulldog has an outstanding 49/9 K/BB ratio at home this year and tossed 3+ innings of scoreless relief against the Snakes in LA back in April...

Umpire Notes, Mother Nature & A Free Pick
Crew chief Tom Hallion is expected to be behind the mask tonight and brings a strong ‘over’ mark of 12-4 into the contest though three of his last five plate assignments never reached the totals. It’s the first time the New York native has worked the dish for either the Dodgers or Diamondbacks this year, totals splitting his last four appearances in LA while visiting teams won three of those.

It should be a typically beautiful evening at Dodger Stadium, the game beginning with temps in the mid-70s and a light SW breeze (out to right). My free baseball pick will be to knock some of that chalk off LA with a run-line play.
