It's a potential pitching duel in San Diego on Tuesday night, as Padres southpaw Sean Manaea takes on the always tough Zac Gallen for the D-Backs.

With two quality pitchers scheduled to start, the total for the contest is a low number at just 7, with 69% of the cash on the Under. Arizona is 39-30 toward Overs this season, with San Diego also leaning Over at 38-31.

Zac Gallen (4-2, 2.91 ERA, 0.99 WHIP) vs. Sean Manaea (3-3, 3.95 ERA, 1.15 WHIP)

Gallen bounced back from a clunker his last time out, going seven innings of two-hit, two-run baseball to get his WHIP below 1.00 on the season. However, several Padres including Eric Hosmer and Trent Grisham have strong career numbers against the 26-year-old right-hander.

Manaea surrendered a pair of homers and five earned runs in his last start, one of his worst of the year. Tuesday will be his first start against Arizona this season, and he’ll be facing many of the hitters in the D-backs' lineup for the first time in his career.

San Diego is much more familiar with Tuesday’s opposing starter than Arizona is. The D-backs' lineup collectively has just a handful of hitless plate appearances against longtime American League starter Manaea. The Padres, though, have faced Gallen frequently, and with some success. Hosmer, Grisham, Jurickson Profar, and Jake Cronenworth all own an OPS greater than 1.000 against Gallen for their careers.

The Friars should score some runs in this one.

The D-backs rank 20th in MLB in OPS vs. lefties (.676) this season. Though Arizona has scored seven runs in three of its last five games, the D-backs mustered just a single tally in the other two contests.

Manaea strikes out more than a batter per inning on the season, while Arizona has racked up the third-most strikeouts offensively in the league. The D-backs' lack of familiarity with a solid strikeout pitcher could leave them looking lost in the box.

San Diego’s 4.70 runs per game ranks eighth in MLB this season. Half of the Padres' lineup has great numbers against Gallen.

Though the D-backs may not carry their weight toward this total in a bad matchup against Manaea, Arizona needs just a couple of runs to aid what should be a productive night for the Friars.

The starting pitchers are solid, but the bottom-10 D-backs bullpen dictates this total is too low.

An effective strikeout pitcher against a lineup that is prone to strikeouts, and one that has never really faced this tough lefty. It’s a good night for Manaea to carve up some batters.
