The low MLB odds total makes a lot of sense with this pitching matchup. I like for both of these guys to continue to pitch well against these two teams. Should be a great pitcher's duel.

MLB odds
MLB odds makers have come out with this game at 6.5 on the total which seems about right. Sometimes I like to do a little opposite play with a match up like this but that would just be trying to  back something that isn't there. This game should stay well under the total and for one of your MLB picks I suggest backing what should be a low scoring affair. There are some pretty good odds still on taking this side at Pinnacle + 104.

Arizona Diamondbacks
Chase Anderson takes the mound for the Diamondbacks and comes in with a 4.52 ERA, 1.33 whip, 97 strikeouts, and a 6-6 record. He has not had a very good season so far and you would think off of his ERA alone this total should be a bit higher. But he is a hot and cold type pitcher who has the ability to come out and throw good ballgame, thus the low total. As well, he has pitched well against the Dodgers this season allowing three earned runs in 11 total innings of just seven hits for an ERA of 2.45 and a whip of 1.00. I don't expect him to completely shut out the Dodgers but he should limit the damage to just a few runs or less.

At the plate Arizona ranks seventh in runs scored per game at 4.47, eighth in OPS at .738, and sixth in batting average hitting .266 as a team. Across the board there one of the better hitting teams in the major leagues in one of the best in the National League. Their statistics don't change very much whether they're hitting in Arizona or on the road, but I don't see them producing a lot of runs today against arguably the best pitcher in baseball.

Los Angeles Dodgers
Zack Greinke gets the start for the Dodgers and comes in with a ridiculous 1.65 ERA, 0.85 whip, 185 strikeouts, and a 18-3 record. The going to win the Cy Young award pitcher has had a season for the ages and I look for him to continue his momentum today at home. In Los Angeles his numbers are off the charts with a 1.48 ERA and 0.82 whip. As well, against Arizona he has been outstanding allowing zero earned runs over 15 innings with a whip of 0.67. This game is important to the Dodgers and I look for him to come out and have a stellar performance to keep his team pushing towards the playoffs.

The Dodgers rank 20th in the major leagues in runs scored per game at 4.13, sixth in OPS at .745, and 18th in batting average hitting .251 as a team. They do hit better in Los Angeles but they have struggled just a little bit at the plate recently, prior to yesterday's game in their last five games averages three runs per contest. I expect them to get a few runs off of the Diamondbacks, but not enough to help get over the total.

MLB Picks
For my MLB pick under the total play of the day I like this spot for both pitchers to have two quality start. The totals is set low for reason and I expect this to be a very tight low-scoring game with the Dodgers getting the win. Don't try to get fancy with this game go ahead and back the smart play and take the under.
