After losing yesterday to the Indians, Tigers try to come back today with Justin Verlander on the mound. This line is very interesting so is there any value in backing the underdog Tigers? Join expert capper for valuable MLB pick.

Detroit Tigers
Justin Verlander takes the mound for Detroit and comes in with a 3.33 ERA and 1.03 whip but a 9.18 ERA in three starts versus Cleveland this season. He is 0-3 versus the Tribe and has allowed 17 earned runs in just 16 innings off of 21 hits in those starts along with Cleveland hitting .304 against him. Yet odds makers have not made him that big of an underdog which is really surprising considering those numbers so far. Looking closer, Verlander has been one of the best pitchers in the major leagues for years and I doubt he is going to come in and be intimidated no matter his current numbers versus the Tribe this season. Recently he has been solid allowing just 16 earned runs in his last seven games putting in over 50 innings of work in that time span. Expect for him to come in and pitch his best game versus the Indians than he has thrown prior. Offensively Detroit had some opportunities yesterday but overall didn't do a whole lot versus Kluber. This is still a dangerous team so I expect for them to come in and put together their share of quality at-bats.

Cleveland Indians
Carlos Carrasco gets the start for Cleveland and comes in with a 3.32 ERA and 1.14 whip as well as a 0.51 ERA in three starts versus Detroit this season. Just looking at the pitching numbers in today's matchup in proportion to the teams they are facing you would think Cleveland would be at least a -150 favorite in the opener but oddsmakers don't give away money for free. Although Carrasco has been dominant against Detroit he hasn't faced them for over two months and recently has had his own struggles pitching hot and cold his last several starts. In his last couple of starts, he's got knocked around quite a bit allowing eight earned runs in just 11 innings pitched off of 17 hits to the Astros and the White Sox. On top of that at home, he has been less than stellar this season with a 4.29 ERA and batters hitting .268 against him. At the plate, Cleveland, as I've mentioned time and time again, are extremely solid at home. Despite the fact they've knocked around Verlander this season this is all about the value in getting plus money on a quality pitcher and a quality team.

Detroit Tigers vs Cleveland Indians
Odds makers have come out making Detroit around a +120 underdog across the board. For my MLB pick today I'm going to back the Tigers at +122 at a sportsbook that is currently offering sign up bonuses, Pinnacle. This actually seems like pretty low plus money value but like I mentioned oddsmakers don't give away money for free. Still, you might want to wait and see how this line moves because there might be more value on Detroit before first pitch.
