Don't wait another minute before adding the San Diego Padres to your Baseball betting ticket today as they will surely upset the Washington Nationals with starting pitcher Andrew Cashner.

Padres vs. Nationals MLB Odds
MLB odds makers came out with this game with the Padres at about a +150 underdog. That number has now dropped a little bit and at most sports book the line is around +140. The best odds at the time of writing now are at 5Dimes at +146, but in my opinion as always any kind of plus money is solid value on a real live underdog in this spot.

San Diego Padres
Andrew Cashner takes the mound for the Padres with a 4.03 ERA, 1.35 whip, 124 strikeouts, and a 5-12 record. With a career ERA of 3.45 this has been an off-season for Cashner but for some reason I keep coming back to him and it paid off last time backing him against the Cardinals. I think this is a good spot to back him again as he is starting to pitch like he is capable of. In his last 10 starts he has only had one really bad outing last month against the Mets where he allowed five earned runs in five innings. Besides that he has been pretty good and in his last two road starts he has allowed six earned runs in 11 innings, four in Colorado and two in Milwaukee. He is a good major league pitcher and I expect him to perform well today, he has faced Washington one time this year where he allowed three earned runs in six innings taking the loss.

San Diego ranks 18th in runs scored per game at 4.06, 28th in OPS at .683, and 27th in team batting average hitting .244. Their home and away numbers don't change that much, actually not at all as they hit .244 at home and .244 on the road. Recently though in their last several games they have been more productive scoring nine runs against the Braves, nine runs against the Cardinals, eight runs against the Cardinals, and a solid day at the plate yesterday against Washington after scoring just three runs in their first two games in the series.

Washington Nationals
Joe Ross gets the start for Washington with a 3.56 ERA, 1.05 whip, 58 strikeouts, and a 4-5 record. The rookie has been good in his major league debut but he has gotten knocked around just a little bit in his last few games. In his last three starts he has allowed 10 earned runs in just 15 innings. Although his home numbers are better there is good value on the Padres to get to him for a few runs, plus the fact they should have some momentum from yesterday going into this game.

Washington ranks 14th in runs scored per game at 4.24, 16th in OPS at .713, and 23rd in team batting average hitting .248. Like the Padres their offensive numbers don't change much whether they are home or away. Recently they have shown some signs that they are starting to pick it up again to make a playoff push and have had a lot of quality at-bats their last five games. Still, I expect Cashner to keep them in check much like Ross did for most of the day yesterday.

Baseball Betting Verdict
This is good value MLB pick on a Padres team that is playing like they are in the hunt. Although Washington has also started to play a lot better this game could go either way and I will gladly back the Padres as the underdog, take Cashner and the Padres in this spot.
