The MLB season continues to chug along and we’ve been on fire in 2020. Moneylines have been a big hit as we continue to look for value with the pitching matchups. We have your daily upset alert on the MLB moneylines here. Wednesday’s slate has 12 games scheduled and we have two excellent underdog bets to score on.

Oakland Athletics vs. Colorado Rockies

Wednesday, September 16, 2020 – 03:10 PM EDT at Coors Field

Probable Pitchers

  • Oakland: Mike Friers (5-2 5.06 ERA)
  • Colorado: German Marquez (2-5 4.35 ERA)

This is the line that stuck out the most for Wednesday's slate of games. The Oakland Athletics are eight games up on the Colorado Rockies and are starting a similar-caliber pitcher. Yet the Rockies are favored despite dropping five of six entering this game.

The Rockies' offense can certainly pound Mike Friers when he's struggling with control. His strikeout numbers are poor and his issues leaving hanging breaking balls lead to easy hits. But Friers has been better since mid-August, and has found middling footing. That's all the A's have needed to rack up wins.

The A's will also benefit from playing in the comfortable confines of Coors Field. The A's offense has just as much power as the Rockies yet aren't projected to score the same or better. This is a miss by oddsmakers.

The Rockies have hit the under in three straight games, while dropping their last four against winning AL teams. Meanwhile the A's are on a four-game winning streak. We need to take the hot team with the better roster with our MLB picks.

Boston Red Sox vs. Miami Marlins

Wednesday, September 16, 2020 - 06:40 PM EDT at Marlins Park

Probable Pitchers

  • Boston: Chris Mazza (1-1 5.85 ERA)
  • Miami: Trevor Rogers (1-1 6.50 ERA)

We're looking at two pitchers who have had limited innings to prove themselves as the journeyman Chris Mazza faces youngster Trevor Rogers. Neither has found continued success in 2020 but there's reason to believe the Red Sox have the advantage in this matchup. The Red Sox should be the favorite on the MLB odds board despite being so much worse record-wise.

The Sox have been almost average on the road with a 10-14 record, while the Marlins have been worse at home than on the road. There's almost no home-field advantage, so this comes down to roster and pitching. And while Mazza has similar numbers to Rogers, he's coming off two improving outings in a row after a rough start.

Rogers has been increasingly worse as teams get tape on him. He was awful last week against Philadelphia, allowing eight earned and nine runs total on 71 pitches in three innings. He has talent, but it's clearly combustible after logging 10 strikeouts the previous start. Boston has won four straight with Mazza on the mound and has won four out of their last six overall.
