Our resident MLB handicapping expert analyzes a couple of starting pitching matchups in the Dodgers/Angels and Giants/Brewers games. Read this insightful MLB betting article that clearly leads you to the best betting values in both games.

San Francisco Giants (Vogelsong) @ Milwaukee Brewers (Gallardo) 8:10 PM ET
The Giants starter Ryan Vogelsong has been a very profitable pitcher on the road this season going 8-2 (+8.40 units) against the money despite posting a lofty 4.70 ERA in those starts. Ironically he’s coming off his best start of the season, and that came on the road during a 5-1 win over the Mets. Vogelsong tossed a complete game while allowing 1 earned run, 2-hits, while striking out 5, and walking just 1. The Giants right-hander has seen 6 of his last 7-starts go under the total while posting a stellar 2.95 ERA, and compiling a 7:1 strikeout to walk ratio. The Giants have gone under the total in 18 of 23-games during the past 2-seasons, as a money line underdog of +100 or more, and when Vogelsong is their starting pitcher.

The Brewers starter Yavoni Gallardo has been extremely sharp in his last 2-starts allowing 0 earned runs and 8-hits, while striking out 16, and walking just 1 in 14 2/3 innings of work. Since the 2010 season the Brewers right-hander has gone 3-1 against the money versus the Giants with an excellent 1.29 ERA. He’s also seen 7 of his last 8 versus the Giants stay under the total. Gallardo will be facing a Giants team with an OBP of just .299 on the season. In his career he’s gone 80-39 against the money when facing a National League opponent with an OBP of .325 or less.

Advantage
I’m undecided about giving either one of these pitchers an advantage over the other. Pertaining to looking for wagering value, I like this one to be a low scoring game. My MLB betting lean is to play this one to go under the total.

Los Angeles Dodgers (Haren) @ Los Angeles Angels (Shoemaker) 7:05 PM ET
The Dodgers starter Dan Haren has fallen on hard times of late. The veteran right-hander has gone 0-5 in his last 5 with a monster 10.03 ERA and 1.93 WHIP. Haren has been vulnerable to the long ball this season allowing 22 home runs in 126 2/3 innings, and that equates to 1-homer per 5.8 innings pitched.

The Angels starter Matt Shoemaker has gone a stellar 9-3 against the money this season with a 3.88 ERA and an almost 6:1 strikeout to walk ratio. He enters tonight in very good form off of his last 3-starts posting a 3.

06 ERA, a 0.91 WHIP, and struck out 16 while walking none.

Advantage
The MLB betting pick with these two starting pitchers in this inter-league rivalry clearly lies with the youngster Matt Shoemaker over the veteran Dan Haren.
