Can the streaking Royals get the best of one of the hottest starting pitchers (John Lester) in all of baseball tonight? Can the Giants get a much needed win against the White Sox ace Chris Sale? Read our revealing MLB handicapping article to get the answers before making your MLB bets today.

Oakland A’s (Lester) vs. Kansas City Royals (Guthrie) 8:10 PM ET

The A’s starter John Lester has gone a red-hot 9-1 against the money in his last 10-starts with a phenomenal 1.21 ERA. Lester has seen just 1 of his 12 career starts versus the Royals go over the total. In those 12 outings he’s posted a terrific 1.65 ERA and compiled a better than 5:1 strikeout to walk ratio.

The Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie has overcome a horrible 4-game stretch in which he posted a monster 10.07 ERA and 2.24 WHIP. Since then he’s bounced back in his last 2-starts to go 2-0 against the money with an excellent 1.20 ERA, a 0.75 WHIP, and a 5:1 strikeout to walk ratio. He was especially sharp in his last outing when he went the distance in a 6-2 win at Arizona. The Royals hurler has seen 4 of his last 5-starts versus Oakland go under the total, and posted a stellar 2.64 ERA in doing so.

Even with John Lester on the mound, it’ll be tough to fade the sizzling hot Royals right now. Contrarily, I’m not willing to go against the Oakland southpaw who’s been absolutely lights out over his last 10-starts. Guthrie looks like he’s regained his groove again in his last couple of outings. I like this one to be a low scoring affair, and I’m leaning toward wager on the under as my MLB betting pick on this game.

Chicago White Sox (Sale) vs. San Francisco Giants (Vogelsong) 10:15 PM ET

The White Sox starter Chris Sale has had a great season thus far despite pitching for a below average team. The ace of the staff has gone 12-6 against the money with an outstanding 2.14 ERA, a 0.89 WHIP, and a better than 5:1 strikeout to walk ratio. In his last 4-starts on the road the southpaw hurler has posted a superb 1.54 ERA. He will be facing a Giants team that draws an average of just 2.7 walks per game. Sale has seen 21 of his 30-starts during the last 3-seasons go under the total, when facing an opponent that draws an average of 3.0 or less walks per game.

The Giants starter Ryan Vogelsong enters tonight in very good form over his last 3-starts posting a 1.77 ERA and 4:1 strikeout to walk ratio. He’s seen 9 of his 12-starts at home this season go under the total. Unfortunately, he’s gone a dismal 0-6 in his last 6 against the money line at home while tabulating a lofty 4.08 ERA. The Giants right-hander has seen 10 of his 11-starts go under the total during the last 3-seasons when facing an American League opponent.

Considering the recent difficulties that the Giants have had winning at home with Vogelsong on the mound, and the fact they will be facing one of the top 20 starting pitchers in baseball tonight, my betting edge goes with the White Sox Chris Sale in this one.
