On the first week of the NFL regular season, the MLB is totally flying under the radar and there are some good betting picks out there as everything is on the line for most teams after 5 months of the MLB grind. Time to dish out some winning picks.

Capper Catalano’s Record
192-167 -19.41 Units

We went for broke yesterday as we took the Seattle Mariners in a rare 3-unit play and nailed it and selected the Cincinnati Reds over the New York Mets with Johnny Cueto and also won. Do we have any big days left within our inner-reserve as the 2014 MLB Season is coming to a close?

Arizona Diamondbacks (59-83) at Los Angeles Dodgers (80-62)
Leaping on the Chalk
There’s no other play here as the great Zack Greinke (13-8, 2.72), who has slown down a bit, has found the perfect game to pick up the winning MLB pick as the Arizona Diamondbacks are just looking to play out the string.

Not only are the D’Backs waiting for their disastrous season to come to an end, they’re sending out a less than effective Trevor Cahill (3-10, 5.06) to the mound.

Cahill has a problem just making it to 5 innings. The statistic that really stands out is in 15 1/3 innings, Cahill has allowed 17 runs on 19 hits to Dodgers batters. This equates to a 9.98 ERA. The way that Matt Kemp has been swinging the bat, Cahill should be done by the 3rd or 4th inning.

Got the Swag Back
A couple of seasons ago, Matt Kemp proclaimed that he was going to be a member of the 50-50 club. It looked good for a while until he injured his hamstring. Kemp has never been the same…until now.

Kemp is back to being L.A.’s best hitter. He’s hitting .375 in the month of September with 2 HR and 3 RBI. Matt Kemp has also fared well against the National League this season. He has 16 HR, 62 RBI, and a very respectable .308 BA against NL pitching. Lastly, Kemp has hit safely in 13 out of his last 14 games. While Yasiel Puig and Hanley Ramirez have been in major slumps, Matt Kemp has kept this team afloat. Today’s matchup against Trevor Cahill and the Diamondbacks should be an easy win for the Dodgers.

San Francisco Giants (78-64) at Detroit Tigers (77-65)
Will Anyone Be Watching?
Normally, this is a bigtime matchup, but with the NFL on Sunday Night, the baseball will surely take a backseat. However, Kyle Lobstein (0-0, 3.18) is pitching for the Detroit Tigers who are looking to fight off the Kansas City Royals for the American League Central Division Title. Do you really want to miss out on the MLB odds for this?

Miguel Cabrera
The best hitter in baseball over the last decade has had somewhat of an unusual season but it could work to Detroit’s advantage. In years past, Miguel Cabrera would have 40 home runs by now with multiple injuries and the Tigers wouldn’t be able to seal the deal in the playoffs. This season Cabrera has half the amount of home runs, half the amount of injuries and Miggy is starting to play his best baseball of the season.

How Does He Do It?
In the last week alone, Cabrera has come on like gangbusters, hitting .500 with 4 HR and 6 RBI. On two separate occasions in his last 6 games, Cabrera has had 2 home runs in a game. He’s just 3 RBI’s away from 100 RBI’s and is hitting a comfortable .307 on the season. This definitely hasn’t been his best season, but Cabrera is on fire at the right time. Kyle Lobstein is no issue in this game with the firepower that Detroit possesses.
