Are you willing to bet on the St. Louis Cardinals building upon their current eight game win streak as they face the Cubs in Chicago? Find out how we are placing our MLB picks.
NL Central Rivals at it again in St. Louis
The red-hot St. Louis Cardinals will host the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday at 8:15 PM ET. According to the MLB Odds, St. Louis is a -119 money line favorite, and the posted total is 7.0. Today will be the third of a four game series between these teams. St. Louis won each of the first two by scores of 10-9 and 7-4.
The Cubs will go with their ace Jon Lester on the mound tonight. The veteran southpaw has gone 3-2 in his team starts this season with a lofty 4.71 ERA. He started one game versus the Cardinals in early April at Wrigley Field, lasted only 4 1/3 innings, and allowed three earned runs on eight hits.
The Cardinals Lance Lynn will get the start tonight. Lynn has gone 4-1 in his career team starts at home versus the Cubs, and posted a superb 1.50 ERA in those outings. He’s made five starts in 2015, posting a stellar 3.07 ERA, and a better than 4:1 strikeout to walk ratio.
Cubs can’t stand Prosperity
The Cubs blew a five run lead in the series opener on Monday versus the Cardinals, and then yesterday squandered a three run lead. They’ve now lost four games in a row heading into tonight. On a positive note, they’re still a respectable 6-5 on the road so far, and are averaging a robust 5.4 runs per game in those outings. The Cubs are also 7-2-2 over the total in those eleven away games.
A Terrific Start to the 2015 Season
The Cardinals couldn’t have scripted a better start to their season. They enter tonight having won eight in a row, are a superb 19-4 in the last twenty-three games, and have gone 13-1 in their last fourteen at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. The Cardinals (20-6) currently lead the NL Central by 6.5 games over the second place Cubs (13-12). The St. Louis pitching staff has been excellent to start the year, allowing just 2.8 runs per game, and the bullpen has an outstanding 1.40 ERA.
Money Line Betting System
The Cardinals bullpen has received a plethora of work in the last three games. They’ve been asked to go 4 2/3 innings or more in each of those contests. The current money line, and that brisk recent activity by the Cardinals bullpen, creates a very profitable money line betting system which will be a telling factor when making one of my MLB picks on Wednesday.
Any team (Cardinals) that’s +125 to -125 on the money line, coming off three straight games in which their bullpen pitched four innings or more, and they have a winning record on the season, resulted in that team going 67-35 (65.7%) since 1997.
MLB Picks: Play the Cardinals -119 on the money line over the Cubs at GTBets.
