With off-field rumors regarding the Cubs and Giants swirling ahead of the trade deadline, how will either team respond in prime time on the diamond Sunday evening? Here are our Cubs-Giants same-game parlay picks.

The Cubs and Giants are teams to watch prior to the trade deadline, as either could move significant pieces. Will Carlos Rodon’s last start with the Giants come on Sunday? Either way, he’ll look to put his best foot forward to help the Giants crystallize the organization's direction as Aug. 2 approaches.

Here are my Cubs-Giants same-game parlay picks for their Sunday Night Baseball matchup (odds via FanDuel Sportsbook; Pick confidence is based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Cubs vs. Giants Same Game Parlay Picks

Same-Game Parlay Predictions for Cubs vs. Giants

Rodon to record seven-plus strikeouts (-265)

I always look to start a parlay off with a slam dunk. If recent history is any indication, this Rodon strikeout prop should do the trick.

Rodon has cleared seven strikeouts in his last five starts and eight of the veteran's last nine. He's second in the NL in strikeouts with 148. His 11.48 K/9 also ranks second in the NL behind only Corbin Burnes.

Cubs hitters are averaging the seventh-highest strikeouts per game across MLB in 2022, making their lineup an easy mark for one of the game’s top punchout pitchers.

Play this same-game parlay at FanDuel, as odds for this prop are much worse through DraftKings at -310.

Giants -1.5 (+116)

Though he’s allowed five runs in both of his last two outings, Rodon should give San Francisco a distinct advantage over Chicago with his 2.05 ERA at home in 2022. That’s nearly two runs lower than his 3.88 ERA on the road.

Cubs starter Adrian Sampson has settled nicely into the rotation, not allowing more than three runs in any of his four most recent starts. But Chicago's bullpen ranks 22nd in ERA, which could be a problem if Sampson can’t get through six innings. He did so in his last start, but the righty has gone that deep just once all season.

The Giants rank seventh in MLB in runs scored at home in 2022, better than their middle-of-the-pack production during road games. San Francisco should be able to work Sampson’s pitch count before delivering the knockout blow against Chicago's relief corps.

Once again, FanDuel offers more favorable odds on the Giants' run line at +116, compared to +105 through DraftKings.

Flores to record an RBI (+150)

Flores leads the Giants in base hits over the past week while also collecting four RBIs, the most on the team throughout that span. The 10-year pro has always been considered a clutch player, but he’s proven that label is correct even more in 2022, logging a robust .338 batting average and 1.121 OPS with runners in scoring position.

The infielder typically bats in a prominent slot in San Francisco's lineup, making him as good a bet as any to provide some run support for Rodon on Sunday night.
