Sports handicapper Ian Cameron provides an MLB Early Lines Report for the baseball card taking place on Wednesday, September 14.

Milwaukee Brewers vs. Cincinnati Reds
Junior Guerra has been one of the rare pleasant stories for the Milwaukee Brewers starting rotation this season. He has a below 3 ERA on the season and Milwaukee is 13-6 in his 19 starts including 8-2 on the road. Guerra got a victory for Milwaukee against Cincinnati earlier this season and I expect him to pitch well once again on Wednesday night. On the flip side, Tim Adleman is on the mound for Cincinnati and I do not see him having much upside to be a long-term viable Major League starting pitcher for the Reds.

Adleman has a 3.88 ERA but his FIP and xFIP both sit above 5 which indicates he isn’t pitching as well as that ERA number would indicate and he also has a low number of strikeouts per 9 innings and nearly 3 walks per 9 innings which is evidence of a lack of swing and miss stuff in his pitching arsenal. It’s also worth noting the Reds are just 2-5 in Adleman’s last 7 trips to the hill. This is a small road favorite price tag worth laying on Milwaukee who have notched a solid 8-4 record in their last 12 games.

Minnesota Twins vs. Detroit Tigers
Tyler Duffey opposes Anibal Sanchez in this game which should feature offensive fireworks from both teams and runs in bunches being scored. Duffey has been pelted in his last three starts to the tune of 16 runs on 16 hits allowed in his last 11.2 innings of work. Duffey was hammered by Detroit just a few weeks ago giving up 7 runs on 8 hits while lasting only 3 innings. I expect Detroit’s potent lineup to do more damage against Duffey and the very porous Twins bullpen in this game.

On the other side of the equation is Anibal Sanchez has allowed 14 runs in his last 22.2 innings of work which is certainly nothing to write home about and despite ongoing pitching woes, the Minnesota Twins have been able to score some runs offensively in recent games as the team has scored a combined 49 runs in their last 10 games. Sanchez has not worked past the 5th inning in consecutive starts and the Detroit bullpen has been lackluster of late with a team ERA of 7.07 from their pen in their last 10 games so the door should be open for Minnesota to plate some runs here. The total is 9.5 and worth betting Over for your MLB pick.
