Colorado Rockies vs CH Cubs Predictions for June 11th

Rockies pitcher Antonio Senzatela

For Chicago Cubs fans, it has not been what they have been looking for in this four-game series against Colorado. After a 5-0 start to the homestand, the Cubs are 0-4 since and failing to ignite.

Joe Maddon's team at 30-31 is a stunning development and those playing the Cubs against the MLB odds are being burned worse than a shirtless guy out all day on Lake Michigan in a boat at -16.0 units.

Colorado has been one of the best surprises in baseball thanks to its overall pitching, which is really amazing, seeing two guys they thought to be the leaders of the rotation have barely pitched. What does the series finale bring, time to explore.

Pitching Matchup - Senzatela vs. Arrieta

Antonio Senzatela (8-2, 3.56 ERA) has enjoyed an excellent rookie season to date. The 22-year's strength is that he keeps the ball low and induces a large number of ground balls and fly balls. Those in the air have been a little more problematic of late with more home runs allowed. Also, left-handed hitters have only hit seven points higher than righty's, but Senzatela has given up six of his nine dingers to them and 15 of his 21 walks.

Like all the Cubs in 2017, something is just off with Jake Arrieta (6-4, 4.46). The right-hander is having to battle every time out and work out of a great deal of trouble. Whether it is too many walks, early runs allowed or balls over the fence, nothing has come easy. Of course, much of the discussion has been about the drop in velocity, but of equal importance from this seat is too many breaking pitches that are not breaking as sharply also. Arrieta's team needs him to prevent Colorado sweep.

Rockies as Road Warriors! Cubs Just Boring

With Saturday's victory, Colorado moved to 24-10 on the road and they are handily the best away bet for those making MLB picks at +17.5 units. While the Rocks offense with stars like Nolan Arenado and Charley Blackmon receive and deserve a lot of credit, the pitching staff is permitting 3.3 runs per contest away from home. Add in the offensive balance and Marc Reynolds having the best year of his career, the Rockies are extremely formidable.

After sweeping St. Louis last weekend and taking the first two from what was a hot Miami squad, the defending champs look anything but. The Cubs offense has 10 total runs in their four-game losing streak and only five runs versus the Rocks. And the outs are soft, hardly hitting the ball with any authority. Hard to believe this team won 200 games the last two seasons.

Betting Odds, History and Bullpen Numbers

Hard to fathom the Cubs opened as -180 favorites in this contest, with total to be released Sunday morning. Chicago has now lost six of nine at Wrigley Field to Colorado in the past three years and the UNDER is also 6-3. The Cubs bullpen has been sinking slowly like the team and is down to sixth in ERA in the NL and was passed by the Rockies yesterday.

Colorado Rockies vs CH Cubs

The Cubs being swept in a four-game series at Wrigley by Colorado does not seem possible, nonetheless, the way the Rockies are playing, especially on the road, this is too much betting value to pass up.
