Baltimore took a pair at home over the Nationals but the venue shifts to DC for the next two games. Let's review the MLB odds and continue to cash those tickets.

Swinger’s MLB Record: 66-41, +23.42 units
Yesterday we included the Red Sox in our MLB picks and it proved to be our second consecutive winner in the last two days. Boston, installed as a +113 underdog by the MLB odds makers, escaped as a 2-1 winner over their hosts in Tampa, much to our delight. But here's the thing. I finally backed an underdog that won! It has been vexing, to say the least as all my dogs lately have had no bite whatsoever. But the Red Sox changed all that - at least for the time being. Let's saddle back up and go for No. 3 in a row this evening.

Nats Ready for Some Home Cookin'
The Nationals 36-23 home record is pretty much what you'd expect of one of the top teams in baseball. But their opponent tonight has a road record of 27-34 that ranks as the very worst among playoff contending teams. That combination may be just what Washington needs as they attempt to recoup the ground they lost in Baltimore over the past two evenings. On Monday night they were edged 4-3 and last night they were throttled 8-1 by Baltimore's timely hitting and solid pitching.

Washington hopes their starter tonight, Tanner Roark (13-6, 2.91, 1.18), continues his winning ways as he is currently the owner of a four-game winning streak, having not lost since July 22nd and leads a star-studded Washington rotation in ERA this season. After two superb outings of a combined 14 innings of work and just one earned run allowed, Roark came back to earth just a bit as he surrendered three runs to the Braves over six-plus innings of work in a game that resulted in a 7-6 Washington victory. The 29-year-old righty has now posted a quality start in five consecutive appearances and in 17 of 25 starts this season.

Betting Analysis
Washington will be a brand new ballclub when they suit up in the friendly confines of Nationals Park after a nine-game road trip. Tanner Roark has been the cure that seems to ail anything and everything for the Nats while Baltimore's Wade Miley (7-10, 5.58, 1.43) has been a spectacular disappointment since being traded to the Orioles from Seattle at the deadline. Wiley is 0-2 with a 9.94 ERA in four starts with his new club. In his last outing, his club backed him up by smashing four long shots in the first inning alone against the Houston Astros. Staked to a 5-1 lead Miley could not get past the second inning after allowing six runs on six hits which culminated in a 15-8 loss to the Astros.

There is something wrong with Miley's head right now. He has proven over his five-year career that he can compete in the major leagues but this transition from Seattle to Baltimore has somehow spooked him. His numbers are hellacious and a trip to Nationals Park cannot be the elixir he needs.

On the flipside is Tanner Roark. The man has been stone cold money for the Nats this season as they flat out win when he starts, going 14-3 over his last 17 appearances. Washington is also 10-1 in Roark’s last 11 starts following a Quality Start in his last appearance, which did indeed occur at Atlanta in his last appearance on August 19th.

Both clubs have postseason aspirations so there is no advantage there but the Nationals have a distinct advantage on the mound tonight coupled with the home field advantage after a nine-game road trip and a Baltimore club that has proven they are not the same team on the highway as they are at Camden Yards.
