The World Series-champion Cubs have been rallying to start the 2nd Half of the MLB Regular Season and are chasing the Brewers (1-7 L8) in the NL Central and behind some great starting Pitching, are rallying to try to catch and overtake the Brewers in the NL Central.

Odds Overview

Chicago Cubs at Chicago White Sox (CSN-Chicago, WGN, 8:10 p.m. ET): The White Sox face the world champion Cubs at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago on Thursday in Game 4 of a 4-game, two-stadium Interleague series from the the Windy City’s South Side. Oddsmakers here have Jon Lester and the Cubs huge -230 favorites (BookMaker, White Sox +205)—after opening at -215—with the Total at 10o -119 (BookMaker) with the Run Line market seeing the Cubs -1½ -150 at the White Sox +1½ +130 (BetOnline). At Wrigley Field, the Chisox won Game 1 on Monday night, 3-1 with Kris Bryant and the North Siders salvaging Game 2—despite whiffing 17 times—at The Friendly Confines, 7-2 on Tuesday afternoon as Willson Contreras had 4 RBI. The Cubs sent RHP Jake Arrieta (9-7) to the mound vs. the Pale Hose RHP Mike Pelfrey (3-7) on Wednesday night (ESPN, 8 pm ET; CUBS -210, 9½o, BetOnline) as the Crosstown Classic shifted from Clark and Addison to 35th and Shields.

Chicago Cubs

The Cubs (+910 to win World Series, BookMaker) have played fairly well to start the 2nd Half, going 9-2 after Tuesday’s win and outscoring opponents 59-29 as Chicago Starters continued to carry more than their part of the load and still unbeaten in the 2nd Half heading into Wednesday. At Guaranteed Rate Field on Wednesday night, Cubs (52-47) Manager Joe Maddon employed another unique Starting Lineup of: RF Heyward, 3B Bryant, 1B Rizzo, 2B Zobrist, DH Schwarber, CF Happ, LF Jay, SS Russell, C Caratini with RHP Jake Arrieta getting the start.

The Cubs (4/1 to win NL, Bovada) are 35-17 L52 Thursday games, 13-4 L17 IL vs. Teams with Losing Records but Chicago is just 7-15 L22 Road games and 1-4 L5 IL. The Over is 6-2 L8 Cubs IL games, 4-1 L5 IL on the Road while the Under is 8-3-2 L13 against the AL Central, 5-2 Lester’s L7 Grass Starts and 19-7 L26 Cubs games vs. RHP Starters.

Chicago White Sox

First-year Manager Rick Renteria and the White Sox (650/1 to win World Series, BetDSI) have been awful to start the 2nd Half, going 1-9 in their first 10 after and continuing to cost their backers money at the betting windows. On Wednesday against the Cubs, the Pale Hose (39-58 into Wednesday) had a Starting Lineup of: 3B Sánchez, LF Cabrera, 1B Abreu, DH Davidson, 2B Moncada, C Narváez, SS Anderson, CF Engel with RHP James Shields getting the start.

The White Sox (200/1 win AL, Bovada) are 5-2 L7 Interleague Home games and 29-13 L42 lL Home games vs. Teams with Winning Records but Chicago AL is a pathetic 2-9 L11 IL overall, 2-5 L7 and 2-6 L8 on Grass. The Over is 10-4 L14 Chicago Thursday games, 8-3-1 L12 IL and 3-1-1 L5 IL Home games, but those numbers were carved on stronger White Sox Rosters and seeing Todd Frazier head to The Bronx may mean this swooning club may continue to dump proven Offensive talent—not a good thing for the psychology of young heads in the clubhouse.

Chicago South Side Weather Forecast, Crosstown Classic Series Trends, Side and Totals Picks

TWC forecast for the southside of Chicago on Thursday evening is calling for a Mostly Clear Sky, a Low of 67° with strong NNE Winds of 15-25 mph. After the two Crosstown Classic games at Wrigley Field on Monday and Tuesday (CUBS 1-3, CWS, CUBS 7-2 CWS), the White Sox hold the series edge, 58-52, outscoring the Cubs, 511-503, counting an ancient World Series meeting between the two (1906), won by the White Sox, 4-games-to-2 after the Cubs went a mind-boggling 116-36 under Player-Manager Frank Chance. So now you know. In his last start, Cubs projected Starter Jon Lester (7-6, 3.95 ERA) retired the first 17 batters he faced and the southpaw is 6-6 lifetime against the White Sox with a 4.43 ERA in 16 Starts, while White sox Starter Mike Pelfrey (3-7, 4.46 ERA) pitched surprisingly well in his last outing against the Royals on Saturday, allowing 1 ER on 2 Hits in 5.0 IP despite yielding 6 Walks.

The Over is 3-1-1 L5 White Sox Home Interleague games, 8-3-2, L13 IL games overall and 10-4 L14 Thursdays while the Under is 3-0-3 L6 meetings overall. With the Cubs playing so well to start the 2nd Half, getting great starts, Lester going and actually scoring some Runs, backing the North Siders and the Under (10½ -105, Heritage) are the best MLB picks here with the South Siders—who traded Frazier and Closer David Robertson to the Yankees—really having a great deal of trouble both Winning (1-9 2nd Half) and scoring Runs (2.60 rpg L10) lately.

PREDICTED FINAL SCORE: Cubs 5 White Sox 2Free MLB PICKS: Cubs -228 (WagerWeb) &  Under 10½ -105 (Heritage)
