After two successive winning days while also hitting both 2 unit plays, the momentum is back and it’s time to pick apart this Sunday’s betting card with our MLB betting picks. Let’s get to work.

Joe C. Record: 139-127 -21.52 Units

We rolled with the heavy favorites as we took Sonny Gray and the hot Oakland Athletics and Clayton Kershaw and the dominant offense of Los Angeles and nailed our betting picks for a second straight day and had Gray and Oakland as our our 2-unit pick.

Sunday Night Baseball

Los Angeles Dodgers (58-47) vs. San Francisco Giants (57-47)
Aces Out In Full Force
The Dodgers have dominated the first two games of this series as they’ve won with Zack Greinke and then with the masterpiece that Clayton Kershaw provided. Hyun-Jun Ryu (11-5, 3.39) is next on the list, but he’ll have to go through newly acquired Jake Peavy.

Peavy got to the ball park during yesterday’s game as he eagerly awaited to switch teams. The entire Dodgers lineup have been carrying heavy sticks. Can Peavy stop the bleeding?

Jake Peavy
Peavy has been a disaster this season at 1-9  and with a 4.72 ERA. San Francisco is looking for him to recapture some of his magic that made him a career133-107 pitcher with an attractive 3.58. The run support hasn’t been there for Peavy, but let’s face it, he’s been “turrible” (a quote from Charles Barkley).

On the other hand, Ryu has been dealing for most of this season. If not for one poor outing against Detroit on July 8th, Ryu’s ERA would be hovering right around 3.00. After the poor pitching performance against Miggy and the Tigers Ryu has went on to win his last two starts while allowing 2 runs and 7 hits in 13 innings pitched. He’s the perfect #3 pitcher on a loaded pitching staff and with hitters like Puig, Ramirez, and Gordon.

Los Angeles should be able to handle the Giants. This game comes down to Jake Peavy and how he’ll pitch for his new team. I think that Peavy will have a good outing, but you have to stay with the Dodgers, who have the better pitcher and far superior lineup.

Oakland Athletics (64-39) vs. Texas Rangers (41-63)
Like Taking Candy From a Baby
The Texas Rangers are falling apart before our very eyes and to add insult to injury, they have to play against the best team in the major leagues and be embarrassed at their own ball park.

There’s nothing different in tonight’s 7 pm ET start as the red hot Scott Kazmir (11-3, 2.32) looks to go in for the kill and send Texas to the “Hall of Shame”.

Kazmir or Cashmere?
He pitching like an expensive acquisition as the A’s are getting their money’s worth. Kazmir is holding opposing batters to a .209 batting average this season. In his last 4 starts, Kazmir has been a beast, allowing 3 runs on 17 hits in 26 1/3 innings while striking out 30 batters. I don’t think the Oakland bullpen will need to be concerned as the Athletics have sluggers like Donaldson and Moss to back them up offensively.

Josh Donaldson is coming off of game in which he hit a home run and when Donaldson plays well, the Athletics are unstoppable. This is a team with the best plus/minus ratio in runs scored as opposed to runs allowed. The A’s are currently at a +164 while the next team in baseball is the Angels with +90; now that it's complete and utter dominance.
