Sports handicapper Ian Cameron provides a look at MLB Overnight Betting Lines for the games taking place on Thursday, June 2.

Cincinnati Reds vs. Colorado Rockies
I’m going to stick with the high scoring theme in the series finale between the Cincinnati Reds and Colorado Rockies at Coors Field on Thursday night between two extremely vulnerable pitchers. Alfredo Simon remains a disaster area for Cincinnati and has been one of our strongest ‘bet against’ pitching targets all season long. He has a brutal 9.60 ERA and an even worse 14.79 ERA in 3 road starts allowing 25 runs on 30 hits in 14 road innings of work and more walks than strikeouts. Simon was hammered in his one and only previous start at Coors Field in 2014 allowing 7 runs on 10 hits in 5 innings of work and I sure do not trust Simon to have a solid outing in this one.

Simon has pitched no more than 6 innings in each of his last four starts which is bad news with a beleaguered and brutal Reds bullpen waiting in the wings behind him. On the flip side, Eddie Butler is on the mound for Colorado and he is not a ‘bet on’ pitcher either by any stretch. Butler has a 4.13 ERA and a much worse 6.57 ERA in Colorado allowing 9 runs on 12 hits in just 12.1 innings pitched this season at Coors Field. Butler has not gotten past the 6th inning yet this season and the Rockies bullpen is not necessarily a pen that is adept at shutting down teams ranked 24th in the Majors in ERA even though they aren’t nearly as bad as the Reds pen. I expect plenty of runs early and late in this game and it’s worth noting the first two games of this series were monster slugfests featuring 19 total runs scored on Monday and 21 runs scored on Tuesday. Expect 12+ in this game to send it Over the total.

Boston Red Sox vs. Baltimore Orioles
We’ll keep on betting against Ubaldo Jimenez once again here as takes his ongoing struggles to the mound against the best offense in baseball as he faces the Boston Red Sox. Jimenez has been flat out awful in recent games allowing 23 runs on 27 hits in 17 innings of work over his last four starts against Detroit, Seattle, LA Angels and Cleveland. Baltimore is 1-3 in those outings and the Over is a perfect 4-0 during that span. He has issued 14 walks and 10 strikeouts in those last four games struggling with control and he may be a powder keg set to explode here against the hot hitting Red Sox in this game.

It’s worth noting Jimenez lost his only previous start against Boston this season allowing 4 runs on 6 hits in 5 innings of work back in April. On the flip side, Rick Porcello has had a solid season for Boston as the Red Sox have gone 7-3 in his 10 starts this season. He has allowed 3 runs or less in 7 of his last 9 starts and is coming off a tough luck loss to Toronto on the weekend in which he allowed 4 runs in 6.2 innings of work. I think Porcello should be able to outduel a reeling Jimenez and I think Boston has potential to come close to this total by themselves after scoring 13 runs in the first two games of this series against Baltimore and will recommend the Red Sox and the Over in this game.
