This is the last day of regular season play before the All-Star Break. Here are your very coveted MLB Picks of the Day, so read on and share in the profits!

Arizona Diamondbacks at San Francisco Giants
Ending On a Good Note. The San Francisco Giants would like to do what I want to do and that's end the first half of the MLB season on a good note as this is the last game before the break and only action going on tonight.

San Francisco (56-33) also wants to end on a high note because they've been one of the best teams in baseball and certainly the best team in the National League West Division. The Giants have won their last 3 games and 7 out of their last 10. They lead the Los Angeles Dodgers by a comfortable 6 1/2 game margain. It doesn't get any better than this as Madison Bumgarner (9-4, 2.09 ERA) takes the mound for the Giants in a complete pitching missing match.

Madison Bumgarner
Along with Johnny Cueto,  this tandem has formed one the top two 1-2 punches in the MLB as San Francisco really isn't a hard hitting team. Their pitching led them to many championships in this past decades and it's leading them to the top of the division again this season.

After pitching 7 consecutive quality outings, Bumgarner gave two rather average perfromances. This is to be expected. He didn't get destroyed in either of these outings. In his last outing, he bounced back quite nicely, allowing just 4 hits in 6 innings in a loss to the Colorado Rockies. Look for Bumgarner to max out his pitch count as this is the last day before the All-Star Break. It's just a matter of does he pitch well and most of the time, that's a forgone conclusion.

A Really Disappointing Season
I was going to talk about Paul Goldschmidt being dominant and the awesome move that the D'Backs made to pick up Zack Greinke, who was 2nd in the balloting last season for the CY Young Award in the National League, but all you really have to do is look at the Diamondbacks in the basement of the NL West Division, 18 games behind the Giants at 38-51 and know that they've had a simply crummy 1st half of the season. While the season isn't over, the D'Backs will need to have a  9-1 or 10-0 run during the remainder of this season to get back in the wild card race.

Starting From Behind
This has been Paul Goldchmidt's season. He's sitting quite comfortably at .300 with 15 HR and 58 RBI, but he started of the season in a big slump and it's taken him a ton of work to get to this point. A win tonight, would leave the D'Backs on a positive note and that could carry over. Don't expect it for your MLB pick.

Philadelphia Phillies at Colorado Rockies
Coors Rules Are in Effect. This means that there's some type of quality pitching and I'm leading towards under the total in a betting total which is always double digits. Tyler Chatwood (8-4, 3.08 ERA) takes the mound and even though the Rockies are below .500 at 40-47, this is a good record for them considering their last few seasons. Except for an 11-2 victory in the 1st game of this series, there really haven't been any crazy numbers put up and that's just the way that we like it. Even last night's game was quite calm until the Rockies put a 6 spot on the Phillies in the 6th inning. The only concern would be that one of these teams has a huge inning, but I think that they're ready to take a few days off and his afternoon should be quite calm.

Coors Aided
You look uo and down this Rockies lineup and starting from Charlie Blackmon (12 HR, 43 RBI, .307 BA) on, most of these players are near the .300 mark and htting in double figure where home runs are concerned. Nolan Arenado has been a beast again this season and Cargo has also had a fantastic season. Keep an eye on Gonzalez in this game after he was held hitless yesterday night.

For the season, Cargo is hitting .318 with 18 HR and 53 RBI. He's 6 for his last 16 in his last 4 games with 3 runs, 1 double, and 2 RBI. You never know when he's going to strike and when he hit's well, there's usually a snowball effect for the entire lineup. Let's hope that this doesn't happen, but I do expect Gonzalez to make his mark in a matchup against a rather equal foe in the Fightin Phils. Take the under on MLB odds as the betting total is especially high at 12 with Chatwood pitching.
