We’re going to examine Thursday’s in state MLB battle between Kansas City and St. Louis. Read our insightful betting preview article in this game which culminates with a money line pick.

Battle of Missouri
The Cardinals and Royals will meet tonight at Busch Stadium in St. Louis at 7:15 PM ET. It will be a short one game series, and a makeup date for a cancellation due to weather conditions earlier this year. These clubs have seen their first five meetings in 2015 go 4-0-1 under the total, and St. Louis went 3-2 in those encounters. Both teams are division leaders heading into tonight, and each possesses the best records in their respective leagues.

Starting Pitchers
Veteran right-hander Chris Young will get the start tonight for Kansas City. The 6’10 former basketball player at Princeton has been marvelous in his six road starts this year. In those outings, he’s posted a terrific 1.73 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, and went 5-1 under the total. Young was solid in his lone start versus St. Louis earlier in the year, tossing six shutout innings in a 5-0 Kansas City win.

St. Louis will send John Lackey to the mound tonight. He’s been superb at home in 2015, posting an excellent 1.91 ERA in ten starts, and St. Louis was 7-3 under the total in those games.

Rolling Royals
Kansas City has gone a stellar 11-3 in their last fourteen games heading into tonight. The Royals are averaging 5.1 runs per game and possess a sparkling .302 team batting average over their last seven. The bullpen staff has been terrific all year, evidenced by a collective 2.16 ERA and 1.08 WHIP.

Home Cooking Works Well for Cardinals
St. Louis is the best home team in baseball at this juncture of the season. They’re an outstanding 33-12 (.733) at Busch Stadium thus far, and have also gone 30-14-1 under the total during that time. Much of the low scoring nature of those games at Busch Stadium have been a direct result of great pitching by St. Louis. They’re allowing a paltry 2.6 runs per game at home. The Cardinals bullpen has also been very good in 2015, posting a staff ERA of 2.41.

In a game that appears to be an even matchup, I’ll side with the team possessing an exceptional record at home for one of my MLB picks today. After shopping for the best price, Bovada clearly provided superior value.
