As the New York Yankees continue their series against the Baltimore Orioles, we are willing to bet that Baltimore will be able to capture their seventh win in a row.
Orioles Look to Sweep the Yankees
Baltimore will look for a three game home sweep of their weekend series versus the Yankees on Sunday at 1:35 PM ET. According to the MLB odds, Baltimore is a -117 money line favorite, and the posted total is 8.5. Baltimore has gone 5-4 versus “The Bronx Bombers” this season, and that includes 4-1 at Camden Yards.
The Yankees Adam Warren will get the starting nod on Sunday. Warren has displayed very good form during his previous three starts, posting a 2.25 ERA and 0.80 WHIP. He hasn’t been nearly as effective on the road, compared to his performance line at home. In 6 starts on the road he’s posted a lofty 4.79 ERA. Warren has made one start versus Baltimore this season and it was less than impressive. He lasted only 4 2/3 innings, gave up 7 hits, and walked 2.
The Orioles right-hander Mike Wright will make just his fifth start of the season today. He was brilliant in the his first two starts, allowing 0 earned runs on only 7 hits in 14 1/3 innings pitched. The previous two haven’t been very good. During those two outings Wright posted a 7.20 ERA, and allowed 4 home runs in just 10.0 innings of work.
After winning seven games in a row, the Yankees have preceded to lose three straight heading into today. Their Yankees pitching has left a lot to be desired in the first two games of this series against their AL East rival. During those games, they’ve allowed 20 runs on 31 hits. The Yankees bats have been fairly silent in day games this season. They have a paltry team batting average of .217 in 17 matinee affairs.
The Orioles were able to overcome a 4-0 deficit on Saturday and came away with a 9-4 win. They’ve now won six straight games, and are also 8-1 in the last nine. The Baltimore bats have certainly come alive of late. They’ve averaged 5.7 runs per game, and have hit a robust .311 as a team during the previous seven contests. Baltimore has been held back in the standings by a 9-17 record in away games. However, their play at home has been a whole different story, evidenced by a stellar 22-13 mark at Camden Yards. Baltimore has gone a solid 14-9 in day games this year.
