Two hot teams face off - White Sox vs. Orioles in the second game of their series. MLB Odds makers have made this game a valuable pick, but which team has the real advantage?

MLB odds makers have made Baltimore a slight -108 favorite at Bookmaker with the White Sox listed at -103. For one of my MLB picks I will back the Orioles at home and look for starting pitcher Mike Wright to have his best outing of the year.

Chicago White Sox
Carlos Rodon comes in with a 4.05 ERA and 1.40 whip with the White Sox ranking fourth in the league with a +29 run differential. In his career Rodon has a 3.78 ERA and 1.44 whip with a 10-8 record. This season he has been off and on allowing five runs off of six hits in less than an inning against the Angels two games ago but then coming back nicely for a two earned off of two hits in six innings against the Rangers. As a team the White Sox have been one of the most surprising so far this early in the season.

However, offensively they have not done a whole lot in proportion to their winning record. Chicago actually ranks in the bottom third of the league in most offensive categories averaging 3.73 runs per game (21st), hitting .238 (21st), and averaging under eight hits per game (22nd).  Their pitching has been really solid with their pen leading the American League with a 1.32 ERA. Although this is the case I like for the Orioles to do some damage against Rodon early.

Baltimore Orioles
Mike Wright will start for the Orioles and comes in with a 6.23 ERA and 1.33 whip with Baltimore hitting .262 as a team which ranks eighth in the major leagues. Wright has had some struggles early in the season but he has also faced three of the best offensive teams in the American League in the Red Sox, Blue Jays, and Royals. There is some hope though for him as he has shown some decent signs of being at worst an average MLB starter. Against the Blue Jays he allowed just three runs in six innings with no home runs.

At home tonight versus the worst offense he has seen so far this season he should have some better success. At the plate Baltimore has picked up where they left off last year with some decent production. Along with their average the Orioles are slugging .444 as a team which ranks sixth in the major leagues, averaging almost 15 total bases per game which ranks them seventh, and have a decent .322 team on base percentage. Last year against Rodon they had some success garnering three earned runs in six innings and picking up the win.
