It's Memorial Day, and what better way to honor the date than going undefeated with our MLB Picks of the Day giving this day the proper sendoff that it deserves.

New York Yankees vs. Toronto Blue Jays
Finding a Way To WIn: This is exactly what the New York Yankees did on Sunday as Jake Odorizzi was sailing along, in hopes of a perfect game. The Yankees couldn't buy a hit all day until a Tampa Bay error broke up the perfect game. Then, Starlin Castro took care of the rest as he capitalized with a 2-run home run to give the Yankees the lead and a victory.

It was the only hit of the game for New York and that's all that they needed as their bullpen is the best in the business from the 7th inning on. It's essential that the Yankees get out to a lead as opposing teams know that their chances of shaking up the "Big 3" of Dellin Betances, Andrew Miller, and Aroldis Chapman is virtually impossible.

The New York Bullpen
I usually don't talk about the bullpen until the end of a write-up, but in case of a close game, which this could be, the 3 guys that I mentioned are the key players as I expect Ivan Nova (3-2, 3.65 ERA) to pitch well against Blue Jays starter, Marco Estrada (2-2, 2.76 ERA) and the big bats of Josh Donaldson, (13 HR, 29 RBI), Jose Bautista (11 HR, 37 RBI), and Edwin Encarnacion (10 HR, 38 RBI). All 3 of these hitters are all capable of hitting 40 home runs or more. The problem that they have had this season is getting on base besides the long ball except for Bautista, who draws a lot of free passes. Toronto is basically an all or nothing team and once they reach the Yankees bullpen, don't expect much.

The Big 3
Andrew Miller (2-0, 6 HLD, 6 SV 0.87 ERA) is coming off of a game in which he struck out the side once the Yankees got the lead. In 20 2/3 innings this season, he's given up just 1 walk and struck out 38 batters. Where Dellin Betances is concerned, you get more of the same as he's called in to stop the bleeding and his 13 holds reflect that. Now, the Yankees have Aroldis Chapman (1.93 7 SV) closing and he's been clocked at 102 M.P.H. and he's at the top of his game. These guys are striekout machines and don't give up walks. They could be key in tonight's MLB Picks, so we'll take their current +133 price on MLB Odds.

Detroit Tigers vs. Los Angeles Angels
"JV" and the Tigers Bats: This will be the difference in this game as the Los Angeles Angels are sending a very weak pitcher to the mound in Jhoulys Chacin (1-3, 5.11 ERA) and with the exception of Mike Trout (11 HR, 37 RBI, .317 RBI) I definitely think that this baseball team needs an overhaul or needs to trade Trout as he's been carrying them on his back at 22-28. Where the Detroit Tigers are concerned, they have a loaded lineup with deadly bats and are starting a very capable but inconsistnent Justin Verlander.

Verlander (4-4, 4.02 ERA) reminds me of Tim Lincecum as he was once thought of as the best pitcher in baseball and then the bottom dropped out. In Verlander's case, he still shows flashes of brilliance and is definitely a pitcher that a team wants on their roster.

He's had back to back 10 strikeout games, but his last effort against Philadelphia stands out. Verlander pitched 8 innings and allowed just 3 hits and while striking out the 10 batters. It was his 2nd conceutive win and it was the Verlander of old. If he could pitch anywhere close to this on a regular basis, he would move up "the food chain" and get back to elite status, but I don't see that happening.

Regardless, he has hitters such as Miguel Cabrera (11 HR, 31 RBI,.306 BA), Victor Martinez (7 HR, 31 RBI, .350 BA), Nick Castellanos (10 HR, 32 RBI, .326 BA), and Ian Kinsler (10 HR, 24 RBI, .314 BA) supporting him and he just needs to keep the Tigers in the game. The big difference in this game is the Tigers have the advantage in starting pitching and a huge advantage offensively and that will get them the victory.
