Build Your Balance With These MLB Picks Of The Day For Saturday

After nailing the Phillies as a major underdog against Kluber and the Tribe, I'm feling confident going into today. Let's keep the ball rolling as we provide you our valuable MLB Picks of the Day.

San Francisco Giants at New York Mets with deGrom
I write this every single time that I cover a Jacob deGrom game because: he is "the man". deGrom is quiet in seeking recognition, but all he does is deliver every time that he steps to the mound. When do you ever see deGrom have a rotten game?

DeGrom is coming into this game after his 1st game back after dealing with adversity with the birth of his newborn baby. On cue, deGrom delivers an outstanding performance, which eventually transforms into a victory. This afternoon, he's facing a good San Francisco Giants team that is coming off of a beating on Friday night against the Mets, 13-1.

The Mets have won 7 straight games while the Giants have fallen back to just 12-12. In my estimation, the Mets (14-7) and the Cubs will be there in the end again, but New York has work to do and today, it's to carry over the momentum that saw them crush the Giants last night.

As for deGrom, he's 2-0 with a 1.54 ERA and hasn't allowed a single walk in 11 2/3 innings pitched. He has pinpoint control and won't allow the opposition many free passes. This is going to hurt the Giants as they can take anything that they can get after yesterday.

Pitching Wins Games
I want to refer to a phrase that I use as the Mets personify this phrase. In their last 7 games (all wins), the Mets haven't allowed an opposing team more than 3 runs. They've allowed a total of 16 runs. This is quite possibly one of the best pitching staffs ever and can only hope that they can stay healthy. Even Matt Harvey is finally starting to pitch well and when he pitches well, New York is unbeatable.

New York is coming off of a record 12 run 3rd inning against the Giants and Yoenis Cespedes had his biggest game as a member of the Mets with a home run and 6 run batted in.

I like the way that young players such as Michael Conforto are proving to be bonafide stars. Conforto is hitting .343 with 3 HR and 15 RBI. Conforto also was a major contributor in yesterday's win. Look for Jacob deGrom to pitch well and hold the Giants in check this afternoon as he looks to stay undefeated and the Mets are a major betting favorite on MLB Odds.

CIncinnati Reds at Pittsburgh Pirates
We go back to pitching and you see that Alfredo Simon (0-2, 16.39 ERA) has gotten crushed this season. Not only that, he's on a Cincinnati Reds team (9-14 and 1-9 away) that's just not as good as they used to be. When the Reds had Johnny Cueto, they would be competing for a Wild Card spot against Pittsburgh. Now, they're just a losing team with a few respectable players on it in Brandon Phillips, Joey Votto, and Jay Bruce.

What I also don't like about the Reds "stars" is their lack of consistency. Joey Votto is the Reds best player and is off to a really slow start. So far this season, Votto is hitting .238 with 2 HR and 11 RBI and we're almost done with the month of April. He need's to snap out of it or the Reds season wil be decided very early.

Pro-Liriano
I know that he has moments where he gives up big innings, but Francisco Liriano (1-1, 4.64 ERA) is still a very reliable pitcher. This appears to be a good spot for Liriano as he has Andrew McCutchen, Starling Marte (.333 BA), and Josh Harrison backing him up offensively. The Pirates have won 5 straight games and this should be an easy win for Pittsburgh, but you're going to have to lay the juice on this MLB Pick.
