The Seattle Mariners are a sinking ship, which makes the Toronto Blue Jays an attractive sports betting option on Wednesday night’s MLB card.

Fallen Flat
Seattle is now three games out of the final AL Wild Card spot after suffering a 10-2 setback to Toronto as -172 road favorites Tuesday, while going OVER the betting total for a fifth consecutive affair.

The Mariners were depending heavily on ace Felix Hernandez to turn things around last night, which is important to consider when looking over the baseball odds, as the pitching staff has compiled a 7.32 ERA in the first nine games of its 11-game road trip.

Since 2012, the franchise is a miserable 57-79 when playing against a team with a winning record in the second half of the season.

Middle of the Order
MLB handicappers will want to take a long look at backing the Blue Jays as home favorites in this matchup, as star outfielder Jose Bautista has put together a .395 average over the course of a 13-game hitting streak against the Mariners.

Toronto has also been happy with the recent production its received from first baseman Edwin Encarnacion, who is 9 for 18 with two home runs in his last five games played.

It’s important to point out that the squad is 11-17 with a money line of -100 to -125 when playing at the Rogers Centre.

Favorable Pitching Matchups for Bettors 9/24

Taijuan Walker (2-2, 3.00 ERA) will be making his eight career appearance (fifth start) for the Mariners this season, as he looks to build off a 10-5 road victory over the Houston Astros last Friday—surrendering two runs and eight hits over 5.2 frames.

The rookie right-hander is 2-1 with a 2.74 ERA in five road games (three starts), with opposing hitters batting .256 against him (.192 at home).

Walker had put together a 7-4 record and 4.37 ERA in 16 starts between all three Minor League levels, as he prepares to face the Blue Jays for the first time in his career.

Blue Jays starting pitcher Mark Buehrle (12-10, 3.53 ERA) has earned just a single win since August, as he looks to bounce back from a 5-3 road defeat to the New York Yankees last time out.

The left-hander is 6-5 with a 3.92 ERA in 16 home efforts, with opposing hitters batting .310 against him (.273 on the road).

Buehrle has compiled a 7-3 record and 3.89 ERA in 16 lifetime starts versus the Mariners, but he hasn’t faced them since 2011.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Blue Jays as one of their MLB picks, as they’ve captured 16 of Buehrle’s last 22 starts as a home favorite, while the Mariners are 1-5 in their last six games versus southpaw starters.
