Ross Benjamin explores the MLB betting scenarios in the AL East battle tonight between the Red Sox and Rays. He uncovers a sports betting angle that favors one of the sides, and it will give you the ultimate MLB wagering edge.

AL East Rivalry
The Rays will host the Red Sox tonight, and we will zero in on the best MLB betting value in this game. The first pitch comes at 7:05 PM ET, and according to MLB betting odds the Rays are a -140 money line home favorite with a posted total of 6.5.

Premier Pitching Matchup
This game will feature two of the hottest pitchers in all of baseball. Ironically both are a pair of southpaws with John Lester taking the hill for the Red Sox, and the Rays countering with David Price. If you read my published article at Sportsbook review on Monday titled AL’s Starting Pitchers with Top Betting Value, I gave you an early take on this exact elite pitching confrontation.

The Red Sox ace John Lester has gone 13-7 against the money line this season, with a very good 2.50 ERA, and a better than 4:1 strikeout to walk ratio. He’s been terrific in going 7-0 in his last 7 versus the money line while displaying excellent form in the process. In those previous 7-starts, Lester has posted a 0.85 ERA, and a better than 6:1 strikeout to walk ratio.

The Rays David Price has been equally as hot going 5-0 in his last 5 against the money line, with a paltry 0.90 ERA, a 0.83 WHIP, and a 5:1 strikeout to walk ratio. He’s seen 7 of his last 8-starts go under the total. The ace of the Rays staff has had impeccable control this season walking just 1 man per 7.4 innings pitched, while posting a better than 8:1 strikeout to walk ratio on the season.

Setting for a Terrific MLB Betting System
The last time these teams met was at Fenway Park during a weekend series that began at the end of May, and the Red Sox were winners in all 3-games of that set. That scenario sets up for a terrific MLB betting strategy. Playing against any home team that’s -100 to -150 on the money line, which is playing with same season triple revenge as a result of a 3-game sweep, and they have a winning percentage of .460 to .490, versus an opponent with a losing record. If you’ve based your MLB picks on this system, then it would’ve shown you a money line wagering record of 30-10 (75%) since the start of the 1997 season.
