The Yankees and Orioles will face each other in four series over the next nine weeks, and Friday's opener in Baltimore finds the Bronx Bombers light underdogs on the MLB odds.

MLB Season Record: 0-3 (-3.12)

With their initial series' of the season under their belts and an off day Thursday, the New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles are ready to lead us into the first of 26 weekends on the 2017 MLB fixture with one of the longest-running rivalries in the American League.

The first of four series the two will play through mid-June, and first of six gatherings for the season, gets underway this evening (7:05 ET) in Baltimore, where young Luis Severino toils for the Yankees opposite veteran Ubaldo Jimenez of the Orioles. The O's are light favorites with a -115 line at Bookmaker, where the total is set at 9.

Baltimore begins the weekend after taking two from the Jays, Buck Showalter's boys having two days off already. New York comes to town having dropped two of three in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Yanks Have History Of Beating Up Jimenez

A nice showing in his rookie 2015 campaign went south a year ago when Severino lost his gig in the New York rotation. Needing a good spring to return to the rotation, the 23-year-old earned manager Joe Girardi's trust with nice efforts in four starts and a couple of relief calls, striking out 20 in under 19 innings. He had one disastrous home start against the Orioles last season, but threw well against them in a start and pair of relief outings in Baltimore.

The good news for Jimenez this spring is he didn't surrender a home run; the bad news is he struggled with his command, walking 11 in 16.2 frames while allowing 17 hits. Opponents hit nearly .300 against him at Camden Yards last year, but none of those batters were Yankees as Jimenez somehow missed them in all six series played. New York hitters have cracked on him plenty in the past, however, the 11-year vet standing 4-5 with a 6.05 ERA in 11 career starts since coming to the AL in 2011 with Cleveland,

Series Trends, Mother Nature & A Free Pick

Tonight marks the 2,166th regular-season meeting and 197th time they've met at Camden Yards counting five postseason games. The Yankees have a commanding lead over the entirety of the rivalry and are 121-85 at Oriole Park, but it's Baltimore that has won the past three season series and nine of the last 12 here. The O's came out on top in six of the nine here a year ago -- the 'under' on the MLB odds cashed in seven contests.

It's not exactly going to be baseball weather for this one, though nothing suggests they won't be able to get it in. Early-morning rain turns cloudy skies with the thermometer in the upper 40s at first pitch (in from left). Four of their combined five games to date fell short of totals, and I'm going that direction again with my free baseball pick.
