I'm confident in betting over the MLB odds total for Blue Jays vs. Yankees, as these are two of the best hitting teams in the major leagues and I don't expect for today's pitchers to keep the run totals down.

Jays-Yanks Sunday MLB Odds
MLB odds makers have come out with the total for this game at 8.5. That number it is pretty standard across the board and is at regular juice. At Pinnacle sports book you can get over the total of 8.5 at -105.  The fact that these first two games stayed under the total I thought this line was a little bit high considering the names of the two pitchers starting, but these offenses are both due for a breakout day.

Toronto Blue Jays
Marco Estrada takes the mound for the Blue Jays and comes in with a 3.40 ERA, 1.11 whip, 86 strikeouts, and a 9-6 record. He has been hot and cold this season but has only given up 10 earned runs in his last five starts. Still, on the road he has struggled quite a bit with a 3.91 ERA and batters hitting .235 against him. Not completely horrible numbers but not nearly as good as his home numbers. The Yankees are familiar with him and should have a good day at the plate already facing him once this season tallying four earned runs off him in just four innings.

The Blue Jays are arguably the best offense of team in the major leagues and lead the league in runs scored per game at 5.31 and OPS at .779. They also hit for a solid .264 batting average good for fifth ranked in the major leagues. After scoring six runs yesterday I look for them to continue their momentum today against the Yankees.

New York Yankees
Masahiro Tanaka takes the hill for the Yankees and has struggled more than he is used to with a 3.84 ERA, 1.06 whip, 87 strikeouts and 8-4 record. Overall still really solid numbers but he has gotten knocked around a little bit recently allowing 10 earned runs in his last three starts. Surprisingly at home his numbers get worse with a 4.23 ERA and batters hitting .227 against him in New York.

At the plate the Yankees along with the Blue Jays are one of the best in the major leagues and rank second in runs scored per game at 4.90, third in OPS at .764, and have a team batting average of .259. In their last two games this solid lineup has only scored one run and I just don't see that trend continuing today against the subpar road pitcher and Estrada. Look for the Yankees to get on the board early and often today.

The Blue Jays are making a serious run at the AL East division but they are still looking up at the Yankees. With two low-scoring games under their belts I look for both of these offenses to break out today at the plate. For one of my Sunday MLB picks, I look for a pretty high-scoring final of around 7-4 and will back the over with confidence.

MLB Picks: Over 8.5
