A couple of teams heading in opposite directions battle Wednesday, and we have a free baseball pick for the series finale between the Blue Jays and Orioles in Baltimore.

Toronto Blue Jays (8-4 SU, 4-7-1 O/U) at Baltimore Orioles (4-8 SU, 4-7-1 O/U)Free MLB Pick: Blue Jays +109Best Line Offered: 5Dimes

A horrible start to the 2017 campaign left the Toronto Blue Jays in a hole they couldn’t dig out. They’re off to a much better start this time around and hanging close with the red-hot Red Sox in the AL East, and the Blue Jays look to keep it going Wednesday when they take aim at a sweep of the Orioles in Baltimore.

Game time at Camden Yards is 7:05 PM (ET), Kevin Gausman (0-1, 8.00) climbing the hill for the O’s opposite Toronto’s Marco Estrada (1-0, 2.77). Tight money lines are the norm for the series finale, 5Dimes offering Baltimore at -114 with 8½ for the scoreboard target and favoring the high side.

Both Hurlers With Solid Track Records Vs. Opponents

The series got underway Monday with a 7-1 Toronto triumph behind the pitching of JA Happ and three relievers. Josh Donaldson’s 9th-inning slam made the game look like more of a rout than it really was, and just sent the final past a 7½-run total on the MLB odds. Tuesday saw Aaron Sanchez take a no-hitter into the eighth as he and Andrew Cashner hooked up in a scoreless duel. Curtis Granderson’s solo blast in the ninth ultimately proved the difference in a 2-1 Blue Jays victory, the final marking the fifth ‘under’ winner in the last six meetings.

Both of Estrada’s assignments thus far have gone into the quality start column, as well as into the win column for the Blue Jays. The former Long Beach State star has been something of an Orioles killer since he joined Toronto in 2015, posting a 7-1 record and 3.22 ERA in 13 starts and a couple of calls from the bullpen. Gausman rebounded from a horrible season opener vs. the Twins (4 IP, 3 HR, 6 ER) by allowing just two runs at the Yankees over five innings last Friday. Since being knocked around by the Jays in his MLB debut almost five years ago, Gausman is 5-3 vs. Toronto with a sub-3.00 ERA.

Umpire Notes, Mother Nature & A Free Pick

Quinn Wolcott dons the mask to call balls and strikes for the second time this season, the 5-year veteran’s first plate assignment turning into a slugfest and ‘over’ winner in Cincinnati between the Reds and Nationals on the season’s first weekend. He was 16-11-3 O/U/P last season, and his only two career appearances behind the plate in Baltimore finished ‘under.’

It’s nice to see a forecast that doesn’t include rain for once, the weatherman promising clear skies this evening in Charm City with temps in the low-to-mid 50s for most of the game with a light SW breeze (out to right). I’m backing Toronto as a slight underdog with my free baseball pick.
