With last night’s underdog victory on the KC Royals, the recent record of this bureau on this site is now 16-8 with +$950 profit (due to underdog prices) in our last 24 selections.

Toronto Blue Jays (Happ) vs Baltimore Orioles (Jimenez) 7:05 ET
In tonight’s contest, the Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles continue their early week set at Camden Yards with opening pitch set for 7:05 ET. I expect a similar result to last night’s Toronto victory (a 5-1 win). In this game, though the teams are closely contesting the AL East race, they are clearly headed opposite directions. The same is true of the starting pitchers. We turn it into an underdog price using a run line situation which is 87%, backed by a run line situation that is 59-16 (79%).

The Baltimore Orioles enter tonight’s action trailing the Blue Jays by 4 games for the division lead, but that is the least of their problems. They trail Boston by 2 games for the first Wild Card slot, but have 5 other teams (Detroit, KC, Houston, Seattle, and NYY) all nipping at their heels, no more than 3 ½ games back! Clearly, there is tremendous pressure on the Baltimore Orioles. The truth is that Baltimore has been playing poorly for the majority of July and August. In their previous 55 games, the Orioles are just 24-31. Success at Camden Yards has diminished as well. Once 41-17 at home, the Orioles now stand 1-6 of late following Monday night’s defeat.

The Toronto Blue Jays continue to super surge!  Following a head-scratching 19-23 start, the Blue Jays have responded by going 56-33, including 4 consecutive wins. They now lead Boston by 2 games in the division and trail Texas by only 2 ½ games for the best record in the League. The have played excellent ball since the middle of May with a strong balance of both pitching and hitting.

Tonight’s starting pitching matchup is a dream come true for MLB bettors. Happ takes the mound with a record of 17-4 and 3.19 ERA. His mound opponent is Jimenez, who has a 5-11 record with 6.62 ERA.

Rather than laying the money line, we have the opportunity to turn this into an underdog winner, knowing that 20 of 23 Baltimore home losses (that’s 87%) have been by 2 or more runs. The Blue Jays continue to be one of the best run line propositions in MLB, winning 59 of 75 contests by 2 or more runs.  I invite you to put the MLB odds in your favor and join me in my MLB pick on the Toronto Blue Jays tonight.
