Cincinnati heads into the weekend on a good run with eight wins already this month, but the Reds are underdogs on the MLB odds Friday at Johnny Cueto and the Giants.

MLB Season Record: 13-23 (-11.68)

A surprisingly fast start continues for the Cincinnati Reds, winners in nine of their last 11 contests. Meanwhile, the San Francisco Giants remain a troubled team with the worst record in the majors as they prepare for Friday's second of a 4-game series vs. the Reds. BetOnline likes San Francisco's chances to even the series with the Giants listed -149 and a 7.5-run total that is taxed a little heavy on the 'over.'

Cincinnati pulled within a half-game of the NL Central lead with a 3-2 decision in Thursday's battle, Zack Cozart driving in the game-winner with an eighth-inning double. This series is an ultra-quick rematch of a 3-game set played in Cincinnati just last weekend, the Reds sweeping and outscoring the Giants 31-5. The Giants have a 31-21 advantage vs. the Reds at AT&T Park, the 'over' a winner in seven of last nine before last night.

Cueto Looking For 1st Win Over Old Mates

The finale of last week's series at Great American Ball Park pitted Scott Feldman opposite Johnny Cueto, and it was the Reds veteran who shined with a 4-hit shutout. The 4-0 triumph came with Cincinnati a +110 underdog on the MLB odds at home, and was just the second win for the Redlegs in seven Feldman assignments.

Feldman will be looking for just his second career win at AT&T Park, the other coming in 2015 in an interleague matchup while he was with the Astros. Lifetime on this mound, the 6-foot-6 righty is 1-3 with a 3.78 ERA in three starts and a couple of relief appearances. Cueto pitched well enough to have won most afternoons at GABP last Sunday and was basically done in by a couple of unearned runs in the first followed by solo shots off the bats belonging to Scott Schebler and Cozart. The Dominican will be facing his former club for just the third time in his career and first at AT&T Park.

Umpire Notes, Mother Nature & A Free Pick

Tony Randazzo checks in for his sixth plate assignment with a 3-1-1 O/U/P on the season, and good news for anyone who loves to play home chalk with those sides winning three of four so far. There's also good news for Giants fans with the Chicago native calling five San Fran victories his last six appearances under the mask at AT&T.

We are not concerned about rain this evening when it should be clear and temps in the mid-50s for first pitch. But it is going to be windy, even by Golden Gate City standards, with a WNW blow in the 20-25 mph range (out to right). Some shops are carrying 7½ for the scoreboard barrier, and I'm running with that figure with a play on the 'over' for my free baseball pick.
