It’s Game 2 of the NLCS tonight between the Giants/Cardinals, and our MLB handicapping guru provides us with an informative betting preview. Join us in reading this insightful article that culminates with a MLB free pick against the money line.

Under the Bright Lights of Busch
The Cardinals will host the Giants tonight in Game 2 of their NLCS at Busch Stadium in St. Louis with the first pitch slated for 8:07 PM ET. According to MLB odds, the Cardinals are a -130 money line favorite, and the posted total is 6.5. Since falling behind i3-1 to the Cardinals in their 2012 postseason series, the Giants have now defeated St. Louis in 4 consecutive games during the NLCS games, following last night’s 3-0 win in the opener.

Amazing Recent Postseason Success
The Giants won the World Series in both 2010 and 2012. San Francisco has now won their last 7, and 15 of their last 19 postseason road games. As a matter of fact, the Giants have won 12 of the last 13, 16 of the last 20, and 26 of their last 35 postseason games overall.

Cardinals are no Postseason Slouch
St. Louis has been a postseason tiger in recent years as well. The Cardinals won the World Series in 2011, and advanced to the 2014 World Series before falling at the hands of the Boston Red Sox.

The Starting Pitchers
The Giants will go with veteran right-hander Jake Peavy on the mound tonight. Peavy has been revitalized since coming over from Boston before the trade deadline. Consider the fact that he was 0-9 in his last 9 and 1-12 in the last 12 against the money with the Red Sox before being traded. Peavy has gone a scintillating 7-0 in his last 7 against the money with the Giants, and posted an excellent 1.07 ERA in those outings. The Giants hurler was superb in his only 2014 postseason start, going 5 2/3 innings, allowing 0 earned runs on just 2-hits, and the Giants won that game 3-2 in their NLDS opener versus the Washington Nationals.

The Cardinals will turn to 27-year old right-hander Lance Lynn. Despite his relatively young age, Lynn has gone a terrific 48-27 (regular season) in his first 3 full seasons in the majors. However, he hasn’t enjoyed quite the success during the postseason, posting a lofty 4.57 ERA in 45 1/3 innings of work. Those appearances included 6-starts and 16-games coming as a reliever.

Final Analysis
The Giants just have that look once again this postseason. They’re getting the combination of tremendous pitching, timely hitting, and are unfazed by playing on the road. It would be difficult for me to fade Jake Peavy right now considering how hot he’s been down the stretch. My lean for today's MLB picks goes to the road underdog.
