We browse the early MLB odds board in search of betting value on Saturday's card and offer two selections to maximize your profits while you enjoy the college football games of the day.

Astros vs. Red Sox

Right-hander Lance McCullers Jr. (7-3, 4.01 ERA, 1.28 WHIP) takes the hill for the Astros after lasting just 3 1/3 innings in his previous start last Sunday (his first since September 6), when he gave up two earned runs on four hits (one home run) with one walk and four strikeouts to get a no-decision in a 7-5 loss against the Angels.

McCullers is still fighting for a spot in Houston's postseason rotation, but he needs to prove he can throw at least six innings, if not his role might be as a long reliever, so this is a huge game for him. He has a 4.78 ERA in 12 road starts and he's winless since June 24.

Drew Pomeranz (16-6, 3.38 ERA, 1.37 WHIP) starts for the Red Sox, looking to end the regular season on a high note. It was said that Pomeranz experienced a dip in velocity recently, particularly after last Monday's start against the Blue Jays, when he allowed five earned runs on seven hits (one home run) with one walk and no strikeouts in just two innings of a 16-6 loss. Pomeranz has a decent 9-3 record with a 3.58 ERA in 16 home starts but I'm looking at the Astros at MLB odds to be determined, as McCullers has something to fight for here.

Mariners vs. Angels

Andrew Moore (1-5, 5.34 ERA, 1.15 WHIP) will start for the Mariners, trying to avoid losing his sixth straight decision. Moore gave up two earned runs on five hits (one home run) with no walks and three strikeouts in just four innings of an 11-4 setback against the Indians last Saturday and he's winless since June 22.

Ricky Nolasco (6-15, 5.02, 1.45 WHIP) will make his 33rd start of the season for the Angels. Nolasco has lost his last three decisions, including last Monday's game against the White Sox, when he allowed four runs (two earned) on seven hits with one walk and four strikeouts in five innings of a 4-2 setback. Nolasco is 0-3 with a 4.62 ERA over his last four starts and he's just 3-6 with a 4.77 ERA in 16 home starts. I'm going Over 9 (-115) with my MLB picks, as both starters are really struggling right now.
