We are eager to share our free MLB picks as the Royals visit the Indians for the first of a 3 game early week set. The wild card in this contest is Anderson, pitching against Volquez, currently on a hot streak.

Kansas City Royals (Volquez) vs. Cleveland Indians (Anderson) at 7:10 EST
The Kansas City Royals visit the Cleveland Indians for the first of a 3 game early week set.  The first pitch is scheduled for 7:10 EST.  I am eager to place my MLB picks on the Royals at this underdog price as they are a BERD (better record dog).  The Royals have the best record in the American league at 59-38 including a record of 25-20 away.  Cleveland is in last place in the AL Central with a record of 45-52 including 19-30 at home.  No other team in MLB is more than 10 games under .500 on their home field.  With those type of records and a current the form of each starting pitcher this is a must play underdog.

It appeared that the Tribe had turn the corner when they went 32-24 following their 13-24 beginning.  But a weekend home sweep at the hands of the Chicago WS brings Cleveland into this game on a 4 game losing streak.  Cleveland has also losed 6 consecutive home games, scoring only 5 runs combined in their previous 5 home games.  Tonight’s Cleveland starter, Anderson, pitched 4 great games in his first 4 outings.  In his most recent outing, a 7-5 loss to Milwaukee, the rubber band snapped.  In that contest Anderson could last only 22/3 IP allowing 4 runs on 10 hits.  As a result of the above numbers both Cleveland and Anderson are a pure play against.

Kansas City made a definitive statement when they acquired Johnny Cueto from the Reds.  With Vargas on the DL and Ventura inconsistent, Cueto provides a much needed ace of the staff.  Not that today’s starter Volquez has been anything short of outstanding recently.  The Royals have won 14 of his 20 starts with Volquez posting a 1.85 ERA in his most recent 4 outings.  The Royals .600 record is for real.  In a season when scoring has dipped to 8 RPG their “small ball” has been ultimately effective.  Backed by a top rated bullpen and an outstanding defense KC is now the clear favorite to return to the World Series.

The wild card in this contest is Anderson who pitched a couple solid games from this mound.  Nonetheless Volquez is in a hot streak while all other aspects of the game clearly favor KC.  As a result, the Kansas City Royals at this underdog price, represent the best value on the MLB odds board today.
