It's a battle for Ohio bragging rights again Tuesday in interleague action with the Indians' Carlos Carrasco taking on the Reds' Amir Garrett. This capper has a  lean 'under.'

Cleveland Indians

Carlos Carrasco has been lights out the season with a 2.60 ERA and 0.88 WHIP. I think this is a really good spot for him to come in and pitch extremely well considering he is coming off his worst performance of the season in allowing five earned runs and six hits in just three innings of work vs. Tampa Bay. Prior to that game, he allowed a total of just 10 earned runs over his last seven starts. I like for him to come in and put up a lot of zeros against a Cincinnati team that has some good offensive statistics across the board. Cleveland has been swinging the bats a lot better recently but still hitting just .242 as a team and rank outside the top half in most production statistics. Although the Indians should be able to score a few runs here, I don’t think they’re going to contribute enough to get over this total.

Cincinnati Reds

Amir Garrett takes the mound for Cincinnati and comes in with a 5.18 ERA and 1.30 WHIP. I always like backing a pitcher when their ERA is high but WHIP remains reasonably low, which we have here in Garrett. Like Carrasco, he is coming off a really rough outing where he allowed six earned runs when the Reds visited the Chicago Cubs. Along with a really rough outing in Milwaukee, he has actually pitched very well the season -- and at home he has been stellar with a 2.70 ERA and batters hitting just .206 against him. At the plate, Cincinnati has some stellar statistics across the board but facing one of the toughest pitchers in the American League. When all is said and done, I believe this will be more of a pitchers' duel than odds makers anticipate, and I will also be looking hard at the five-inning line.

The Pick

Oddsmakers have come out with a total of 8.5 this game, and for my MLB pick I will be backing 'under' the total. Carrasco has been stellar this season and Garrett is actually better than his current ERA so expect both of these pitchers to come out and put up their share of zeros.
