Before making your MLB pick today, know that the Colorado Rockies and St. Louis Cardinals are both scuffling at the plate, which will make runs hard to come by in their series opener at Busch Stadium Friday night.

Swept Away
Colorado opened up its road trip by suffering a three-game sweep against the New York Mets, as the offense scored just two combined runs over that span, which led to the 'under' cashing in each of those affairs.

The Rockies are 8-19 in their last 27 games against the Cardinals, which is important to consider when making your MLB picks & predictions, especially since they’ve dropped 11 of their last 14 meetings at this venue.

Over the last two-plus seasons, the franchise is 10-25 as road underdogs of +175 to +200, with the 'under' going 23-10-2 in that situation.

Returning Home
St. Louis went 10-8 during its stretch of playing 18 consecutive games against National League Central opponents, as it looks to bounce back from a 1-0 defeat to the Cincinnati Reds as +102 underdogs, while going under the betting total for the third time in four contests.

The Cardinals are hoping that catcher Yadier Molina can get things going offensively after receiving a day off Thursday, as he’s batting .234 with five RBIs since coming off the disabled list with a thumb injury.

MLB handicappers will find that the club is 11-7 as home favorites of -200 to -225 MLB odds since 2012, with the 'under' going 10-7-1 in those 18 opportunities.

De La Rosa
Rockies starting pitcher Jorge De La Rosa (13-10, 4.27 ERA) didn’t earn a decision in a 7-6 home victory over the San Diego Padres last time out, as he allowed three runs and six hits over 5.2 innings of work.

The left-hander is 4-8 with a 5.29 ERA in 15 road games—serving up 11 home runs in 81.2 combined frames.

Since becoming a member of Colorado’s rotation in 2008, De La Rosa has compiled a 5-1 record and 3.52 ERA in six starts versus St. Louis.

Wainwright
Cardinals starting pitcher Adam Wainwright (17-9, 2.62 ERA) has won back-to-back trips to the mound, including a 9-1 road victory over the Milwaukee Brewers last time out, as he surrendered a single run in a complete game effort.

The right-hander is 7-3 with a 3.86 ERA in 12 home appearances, with opposing hitters batting .246 against him (.212 on the road).

In seven home games (four starts) against the Rockies, Wainwright has produced a 4-1 record and 1.21 ERA.

Prediction
I’m going to recommend that readers play the total as one of their MLB picks, as the 'under' is 24-9-1 in the last 34 meetings in this series, while the Cardinals have fallen short of the number in seven of Wainwright’s last nine outings versus NL West opponents.
