New York rallied to tie the game in the bottom of the 13th inning, then scored in the bottom of the 14th for a 2-1 victory Tuesday night, evening this series at a game apiece. That final also gave us a winner with our free MLB pick of the day. We'll shoot for more of the same when the teams meet for Game 3 of this four-game set Wednesday night (7:05 pm ET).

Wednesday's Betting Odds
As of early Wednesday AM the best price we could find on Texas and Yu Darvish was the -110 offered at BetOnline, while New York and David Phelps could be found at +104 at 5Dimes. And most books were listing the 'over/under' at 7.5 runs.

Tuesday Re-Hash
Even though Tuesday's starting pitchers owned a combined ERA of more than 10 neither team could score off them. The game went into extra innings at 0-0, and remained that way until the top of the 13th, when JP Arencibia bopped a solo homer for Texas. But New York promptly tied the score on a Brett Gardner double and a Jacoby Ellsbury single. One inning later the Yanks got a game-winning base hit from newly acquired Chase Headley for a 2-1 victory.

The Yanks won as -170 post-time chalk on Tuesday's MLB betting board, and the game, to our delight, stayed 'under' its total of nine runs.

Wednesday's Whirlers
Before locking in our MLB picks, lets examine the men selected to toss tonight's game.

David Phelps (4-4, 3.87) is 6/14 on quality starts this year, and three for his last three. Last time out he held Cincinnati to two ER through 6 1/3 innings, and over his last three starts he's allowed five ER through 19 1/3 innings.

For the season Phelps has allowed 92 hits in 95 innings, walked 37 and struck out 83. But New York is just 4-10 in Phelps' starts.

This will be Phelps' first start against the Rangers since August of 2012.

Yu Darvish (9-5, 2.88) is 10/18 on quality starts, but only one for his last three. Last time out he held Toronto to one run through 6 2/3 innings, striking out a dozen, but in his two starts previous to that he had allowed 10 runs in 11 innings against the Mets and Astros.

Over his last six starts Darvish has given up at least four runs four times.

On the season Darvish has allowed 106 hits in 122 innings, walked 42 and whiffed 154. Texas, a team that's 20 games under .500 overall, is 12-6 in Darvish's starts.

Last year Darvish started twice against the Yankees, allowing three runs and nine hits through 11 2/3 innings; both those games played 'under.'

We won with the 'under' on Tuesday's game, and we expect more of the same tonight. So we'll go with the 'under' 7.5 runs at the -110 offered at Pinnacle for our free MLB pick on Wednesday's contest.
