The Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees are playing without some key players in the final week of the regular season, which should lead to a low-scoring affair in Derek Jeter’s last game in the Bronx. Find out where we're placing our free MLB pick.

Still a Shot
Baltimore still has an outside shot of catching the Los Angeles Angels for home-field advantage throughout the 2014 MLB playoffs after the American League captured the All-Star game, but it has just four games to make up a 2.5-game deficit.

The Orioles are playing without the services of starters Chris Davis, Manny Machado and Matt Wieters, which is important to consider when making our free picks, but they’ve still compiled a 13-5 record against the Bronx Bombers in 2014.

It’s important to point out that the club is 2-5 in its last seven games as road underdogs of +110 to +150, with the 'under' going on a 9-3 run in that situation.

The Captain
Derek Jeter will play his final-ever home game with New York being eliminated from postseason contention, which can’t be ignored when looking over the MLB odds, as the team dropped a 9-5 decision to Baltimore as -120 home favorites Wednesday.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi doesn’t expect to have Carlos Beltran, Jacoby Ellsbury or Mark Teixeira in the lineup, but his clubhouse can find motivation in trying to secure the franchise’s 22nd consecutive season with a winning record.

MLB handicappers will find that the Bronx Bombers are 7-2 in their last nine games at Yankee Stadium with the total set at 7 to 8.5.

Gausman
Orioles starting pitcher Kevin Gausman (7-7, 3.57 ERA) hasn’t earned a decision in his last three efforts, while he’s compiled a 3-5 record and 3.73 ERA in 12 trips the mound since the Midsummer Classic.

The right-hander is 3-2 with a 3.13 ERA in eight road appearances—surrendering three home runs in 46 combined frames.

In eight career games (two starts) versus the Yankees, Gausman has put together a 3-1 record and 1.64 ERA.

Kuroda
Yankees starting pitcher Hiroki Kuroda (11-9, 3.77 ERA) is coming off a 5-3 home win over the Toronto Blue Jays last Friday, as he allowed three runs (two earned) and seven hits over 6.2 innings of work.

The right-hander is 7-5 with a 4.02 ERA in 17 home games—serving up 14 round trippers in 103.0 combined frames.

Kuroda has registered a 3-3 record and 2.80 ERA in 11 overall starts in this rivalry.

Prediction
I’m going to recommend that readers play the total as one of their MLB picks, as the 'under' is 7-0 in Kuroda’s last seven home starts against the Orioles.
