The Cardinals have shown some magic in the series so far, winning both games on walk-off homers. Will we see more late heroics on Wednesday, or will Pittsburgh finally get on the board with a win? Let's examine the MLB odds.

Odds Overview
St. Louis is the favorite to make it three wins in a row, with the lines opening in the -130 to -140 range. Pittsburgh can be backed at a price of +120 or so.

The total for tonight opened at eight runs but has been wagered down to seven-and-a-half.

Pittsburgh Pirates (Cumpton)
The Pirates, despite these latest two heart-breaking losses, have actually been playing well lately. Not so long ago they were a few games under .500, but now they're at 47-43 on the season.

The NL Central is still wide open, especially now that the Brewers are cooling off. Only 4.5 games separate first and fourth, which is currently occupied by Pittsburgh, so anything can happen going forward.

For tonight, the Pirates will lean on Brandon Cumpton to give the team some quality innings.

Cumpton is 3-2 with a 4.61 ERA and 1.33 WHIP on the year, but he's actually been pitching quite well over the past month or so. His numbers are skewed from an awful outing back in May (3.2 IP, 11 H, 10 ER against the Dodgers), but as you can see he's been able to work his ERA down.

The right-hander could use some run support tonight and we're eager to see if Pittsburgh can oblige. They've hit .273 as a team over the last week, with Jordy Mercer (.545) and Andrew McCutchen (.414) standing out the most. Will they do damage tonight?

St. Louis Cardinals (Lynn)
One night after Matt Adams' walk-off, Kolten Wong came through for the Cardinals this time, blasting a game-winning homer to give the hosts a 5-4 victory. The win helped St. Louis pull to within three games of the Brewers for the top spot in the division.

We'll have to see if the Cardinals can preserve this newly found momentum, with Lance Lynn set to take the mound tonight.

Lynn has been good, but not great, this season, going 9-6 with a 3.17 ERA and 1.31 WHP so far. It was good to see the right-hander bounce back after a horrible outing against the Dodgers – he pitched 6 and 2/3 innings of scoreless ball at home versus the Marlins, allowing only five hits and striking out six.

Coming into tonight, Lynn has gone 5-2 with a 2.84 ERA in nine starts at Busch Stadium, so you have to figure he'll be confident in his chances of stymieing the Pirates.

In terms of hitting, St. Louis has batted .259 as a team over the past week. The four regulars that have contributed most during that time have been Matt Adams (.400), Kolten Wong (.400), Yadier Molina (.333) and Matt Carpenter (.320).

MLB Pick
It's a tough call here.

Yes, this St. Louis team has the good vibes on their side, but we're still not confident in backing them with our MLB picks here. The Pirates have had their chances to win each of these first two games and they'll be even more motivated tonight.

With that said, we feel it may be in our best interest to head towards the UNDER. Lynn has been great at home this season and Cumpton has been better than his statistics may suggest.

In what should be another tight game, one that could easily be decided late once more, we'll be taking the UNDER.

MLB Pick: UNDER 7.5
