After perusing the MLB odds trading in the market, we have isolated a pair of totals for Monday night. Let’s analyze these matchups and cash in our MLB picks this evening.

7:10 PM EDT Braves (20-9-2 O/U) vs. Reds (14-14-3 O/U)
The Braves travel to Cincinnati to open the first of a three-game set after dropping three-in-a-row to the Nationals in Washington. Atlanta pitching got torched allowing an average of 7.3 runs per game while their offense plated an average of four runs over the course of that series. Tonight they will pin their hopes on 24-year-old hurler Shelby Miller (1.66 ERA, 0.97 WHIP) to stem the tide of their recent misfortunes and inch their way back to .500.

The Reds are back home after a 10-game road swing and will look to get back on the winning track after losing their last two to the White Sox. Veteran Mike Leake (2.47 ERA, 0.87 WHIP) will take the hill and will seek his third consecutive start without allowing an earned run. Leake has been stellar in his last pair of outings blanking both the Braves and Pirates while leading his team to 5-1 and 3-0 victories respectively.

These two quality pitchers hooked up on April 30th that saw the Reds claim a 5-1 win in Atlanta with Miller allowing two runs, both solo shots, on six hits through seven full while Leake was masterful in surrendering just two hits, no runs through eight innings of work. Miller is coming off an absolute gem in which he stymied the Phillies offense last Tuesday en route to a 9-0 Braves win in which he allowed only three hits in a complete game.

I am not about to look a gift horse in the mouth and manufacture a reason why this game will not go as expected which is a low scoring pitcher’s duel. In the four games between these two teams this season the teams have gone under the MLB betting odds total in two of three occasions with the fourth being a push. Both pitchers have historically had success against these opposing lineups and should again tonight. This one goes low.

MLB Pick: Play under 7 ½ (-110) at GTBets

7:10 PM EDT Yankees (16-13-3 O/U) vs. Rays (13-19 O/U)
The Yankees won three of four from the Orioles and must now travel to Tampa Bay to meet the Rays who are fresh off a split with the Texas Rangers in their recent four-game set. The Bombers will send former ace C.C. Sabathia (5.45 ERA, 1.45 WHIP) to the hill and despite his woeful and winless performances this season a surprising four of his six starts have gone under the posted MLB odds total. In his last outing Sabathia lasted 6 1/3 in a 5-1 loss to Toronto in which he allowed four earned runs on nine hits. In his only appearance against the Rays this season Sabathia was rocked for five runs on 10 hits and never made it out of the fourth inning.

The Rays lost a narrow 2-1 decision to Texas last night as they send 26-year-old right-hander Alex Colome to the mound tonight. Colome’s second year in the bigs was delayed due to illness but in his first start he tossed five scoreless innings in a 2-0 victory over the Orioles and came back with another strong performance against Boston when he held the Red Sox to two earned runs over five innings leading to a 5-3 win over their divisional rivals.

The under is 6-2-1 in Yankees’ games following a win and 12-3 in the Rays last 15 games overall. Sabathia should be solid against a light hitting Rays’ squad and will look to replicate his April 17th performance of 2014 when he last pitched at the Trop where he held Tampa to only one earned run in seven innings that led to a 10-2 Yankees victory. If the Rays can stretch Colome out even an extra inning this game should be relatively low scoring. The MLB odds total in this one is 7 ½ and that should be high enough to get this one to cash in our MLB picks.

MLB Pick: Under 7 ½ (-110)
