Milwaukee erupted for seven late runs in the opener vs. the Dodgers, and the Brewers now get to face a former teammate when the MLB odds series continues on Saturday.

The good news for Los Angeles is newly-acquired Roberto Hernandez looked good in his Dodgers debut Friday night against the Milwaukee Brewers. The bad news is LA's bullpen and defense wasn't up to par in the 9-3 series-opening loss, and the really bad news is shortstop Hanley Ramirez had to leave the game with a possible oblique injury.

An MRI is scheduled today to determine how bad Ramirez's injury might be, and it's likely the Dodgers will miss his bat in the lineup for at least the rest of this series plus some. Also scheduled today is Game 2 which finds Zack Greinke on the hill for Los Angeles against Milwaukee's Mike Fiers who delivers the first pitch at 7:10 PM (ET).

SBR's live MLB odds show the Dodgers chalked in the -135 to -145 range, very close to the opening numbers, along with an 8 run total that favors the 'under.'

Fiers Recalled From Nashville To Face Dodgers
Greinke took the loss this past Monday in the only game the Dodgers dropped to the Angels in their recent 4-game series. A rocky first inning in which the Halos scored four runs (2 earned) put Greinke and LA in a hole from which they could not recover.

The Orlando native will be facing his former club for the second time since leaving the Brewers after the 2012 season. Greinke was shelled by the Milwaukee lineup in a May 2013 contest at Miller Park (4 IP, 9 Hits, 5 Runs), but enjoyed a lot of success on this mound during his days with the Brewers, going 19-2 in 30 starts with a 3.05 ERA.

Fiers is making his first start of the year for Milwaukee, taking over the rotation slot opened up due to Matt Garza's oblique strain. He worked four relief outings for the club in June, compiling a 2.57 ERA in seven innings, but has been used extensively as a starter at Triple-A Nashville (17 starts, 8-5, 2.55 ERA). Fiers' career résumé vs. the Dodgers includes a start and a relief appearance, totaling 8.2 IP with one run scoring.

Umpire Notes, Final Thoughts & A Free Pick
Crew chief Joe West had the dish in Game 1, and that should leave Marty Foster calling balls and strikes this evening. The Denver native and veteran of 18 MLB seasons doesn't bring any strong trends into his first Miller Park appearance of 2014, his plate assignments running 10-11-1 O/U/P so far, though the Brewers have won his last three games under the mask in Milwaukee.

It's difficult not to be immediately drawn to Greinke over Fiers in the matchup, especially since LA isn't huge chalk. But I'm going to stay away from that side for my free MLB pick and come right back with another play on the 'over.'
