Baltimore's big bats came to the rescue Monday in the series opener vs. New York, and the O's are favored on Tuesday's MLB betting board to beat the Yanks again.

Things weren't looking too good for the Baltimore Orioles early on Monday night. Not only were they trailing the New York Yankees 3-1, they'd also seen their third baseman exit the game with a potentially serious knee injury.

Baltimore sluggers at least took care of the game against the Yankees, popping three home runs to eventually come away with an 11-3 triumph. Now the Orioles will await news on Manny Machado to see how long the young 3B will be out of the lineup.

Machado will at least miss Tuesday's tilt, another 7:05 PM (ET) first pitch at Camden Yards. Wei-Yin Chen gets the start for Baltimore, the Orioles priced around -140 on the moneyline. Shane Greene answers for New York and SBR's live baseball odds has a mix of 8 and 8.5 run totals for bettors to choose from.

Chen Aims To Begin New Win Streak
Ups and downs are all part of being a rookie in the big leagues, but Greene has so far had more of the former and managed to escape any nasty outings. The wiry 25 year old is definitely coming off an up, eight shutout innings vs. the Blue Jays last Thursday in New York. Three walks and five K's were also a part of his 99-pitch effort.

Greene also blanked the O's in Baltimore a month ago, beating Chris Tillman 3-0 by working into the eighth and giving up just four hits while whiffing a career-high nine.

Chen saw a 5-game win streak come to a screeching halt last Wednesday in Toronto, serving up a homer among the eight hits and four runs he allowed in five frames. The southpaw actually beat the Yankees with a very similar linescore way back in early-April, also the middle matchup of that 3-game series. That was Chen's first career win vs. the Yankees, which isn't hard to understand considering his 5.75 ERA (45.1 IP).

Umpire Notes, Mother Nature & A Free Pick
There isn't anything trendy about Gerry Davis' totals record when he calls balls and strikes this season, 9-11-2 (O/U/P). Three of his last four have gone 'over', but it is the veteran umpire's home-visitor split that is really worth a look. That record currently stands 19-3 in favor of home teams, 16-2 when they're on a chalk line.

Rain is already falling in the Baltimore area, and that is expected to continue throughout the day with the weatherman listing a 70%-80% into the evening. Both teams have Thursday off, plus the Yankees visit the Orioles once again in September, so don't expect the umpires to dilly-dally around too long before postponing this one.

Oriole hitters are feeling it right now, Monday's massacre their third game in four to put up at least 10 runs, so it will be interesting to see how they react to seeing Greene for a second time. I'm guessing they'll be fine, but can't get fully behind Chen in this one. That's why I'm going with the high side of the total for my free pick at Pinnacle Sports.

MLB Pick: Yankees-Orioles Over 8.5 (+110)

Season: 98-103 (-6.10)
