Sports handicapper Ian Cameron provides his MLB Early Lines Report for the games taking place on Saturday, August 6.

Miami Marlins vs. Colorado Rockies
I really like what I’ve been seeing from Andrew Cashner who has found new life after what had been a largely disappointing season for him. Cashner has allowed just 6 earned runs in his last 23.2 innings of work in his final three starts with the Padres and first one with his new team the Miami Marlins. He has pitched here plenty of times at Coors Field and shouldn’t be phased by pitching in this ballpark and he actually is working on a perfect 5-0 run in his last 5 starts against the Rockies including two outings here at Coors Field.

I expect him to pitch well enough here to give the Marlins a chance to win and I expect Miami’s lineup to have success against Chad Bettis who has struggled for the majority of the season pitching here in Denver as he enters this start with a very subpar 5.47 ERA at Coors Field. Miami also has the stronger and deeper bullpen which should come into play late in the game if the game remains close. I’ll endorse the Marlins at a near even money price to get the road win with MLB odds of +105.

Milwaukee Brewers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks
Matt Garza has started to turn a corner for the Milwaukee Brewers in his last two starts allowing just 4 earned runs in his last 11 innings of work against Arizona and Pittsburgh and has seen a bit of an uptick in his velocity and swing and miss rate during that time and he will be facing a Diamondbacks lineup that has been stuck in mud for some time scoring just 11 runs in their last 4 games combined.

On the flip side, Patrick Corbin’s disappointing campaign keeps rolling on for Arizona as the lefty has had a very frustrating season entering this game with a 5.30 ERA and he has been hit even harder and been worse here at Chase Field where Corbin owns a 6.91 ERA and his Arizona team is just 1-9 in his 10 home starts this season. These two teams are also headed in opposite direction in terms of their current form as Arizona is a dismal 2-8 in their last 10 games while Milwaukee has put together a solid 7-3 run in their last 10 games. I think we have a ‘wrong team favored’ situation here and I’ll look to take advantage of it with a recommendation on the underdog Brewers as my MLB pick.
