Read on to take a look at MLB Overnight Betting Lines for the games taking place on Sunday, July 3, and cash in from the insightful MLB Picks by an experienced handicapper.

Colorado Rockies vs Los Angeles Dodgers
Jon Gray is always worth a look at an underdog price IMO and the same applies here as he takes the mound for the Colorado Rockies against the LA Dodgers. Gray is arguably the single, strongest pitching prospect in the organization and has relatively solid on a streak of 7 straight starts allowing 4 runs or less and Colorado has a 4-3 record during that span of starts by Gray.

Gray neutralized the LA Dodgers when he faced them here at Dodger Stadium last season allowing just 2 runs in 4.2 innings and the Rockies won with him on the mound against the Dodgers at Coors Field back in April. Brandon McCarthy will be activated from the DL following Tommy John surgery and make his first start of the season here for the LA Dodgers.

McCarthy allowed 4 runs on 5 hits in 5 innings in his final rehab start at Single A earlier this week and with him being an older pitcher now and that outing not exactly instilling confidence in a smooth return to the rotation, I think he may be at a disadvantage here from a starting pitching perspective and will take the plus price value with the Rockies as one of my MLB Picks.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs Oakland Athletics
Francisco Liriano flat out stinks right now for the Pittsburgh Pirates. The veteran lefty has been a mess for the better part of the last month struggling with control and getting hit around on a regular basis. He’s allowed 29 runs in his last 30.1 innings of work over his last six starts in which Pittsburgh has gone a winless 0-6.

Oakland has hit better all season long against southpaws averaging close to 5 runs per game against lefties and the A’s bats have come alive in recent games scoring 59 runs in their last 8 games combined so this could be another rough day for Liriano on the mound. On the flip side, we are seeing progress being made with young Oakland righty Daniel Mengden who has been rock solid and steady in his first four big league starts allowing 9 runs in 25.2 innings during that span 9 walks and 26 strikeouts.

The Pirates lineup may find it tough sledding going up against Mengden who they’ve never faced and have very little familiarity with as well being a team from the National League. Reasonable MLB Odds chalk to lay with Oakland here in which they should enjoy a starting pitching edge and it’s worth noting the Athletics are playing some of their best baseball of the season right now--6-3 in their last 9 games overall.
