Our handicapper has picked out two gems for his Tuesday Picks of the Day. One you should know by now, but the other one took him some digging as he makes his selections for us to profit from.

Every 6th day it seems as if a pick writes itself over here at SBR, as our MLB handicapper looks to fade Jered Weaver yet again when he is on the mound. Will this week be any different?

Celebrate everyone! Jered Weaver is back on the mound for the Padres on Tuesday night, so a great time to start putting together some parlays, round robins, and whatever else you can think of to fade this pitcher as he plays out his bloated contract.

This time around Weaver faces the Texas Rangers, which strangely enough he beat twice just last September with the Los Angeles Angels. The lineup he has this time around is nothing compared to that though and he’s lost three decisions in a row coming into this game. Look, I can try to be logical about this, but this is auto-fade territory at this point.

This is also another situation where we should expect a short outing from both pitchers, and both bullpens suck leading to an easy call on the Over. It is listed at just 8 in this game and I really can’t figure it out, other than San Diego’s poor offense on the season. I’m taking the Rangers at -125 and the Over of 8 on this game, with a sprinkle of a parlay on both plays.

New York Yankees vs. Cincinnati Reds

The Yankees bring their top-ranked offense into the cracker box in Cincinnati, and our handicapper like the starting pitching trends leading to scoring in this game.

C.C. Sabathia has been in some high scoring games lately, and I don’t see that trend changing anytime soon on Tuesday night. He has cashed 3 overs in a row even with a 2-1 record and a 10.43 ERA and 2.11 WHIP over those starts. Sabathia’s hard hit contact rates are the highest in his career, as is the FIP of 5.39 that he is currently running through 33 innings pitched.

Sabathia faces Tim Adleman, who has been average on the year but has also been bitten by the long ball to the tune of a 16.7% HR/FB rate. Looking at Adleman’s splits this year and, uh oh, he is running a .304 batting average against with right-handers on the year. The Yankees have a lineup that should be very successful against Adleman on Tuesday or at least the prospect of being so. With both Sabathia and Adleman being untrustworthy, the side is out of the question. However, the current five-inning total of 4 listed at Pinnacle has very good value, so I will be taking it early as one of my Tuesday MLB Picks of the day.
