The Dodgers take aim at a sweep of the Braves in the final game of the Thursday's baseball betting card, and LA will have its ace on the mound as a $2 favorite.

They're the hottest team going in the National League, and the Los Angeles Dodgers are heavy favorites to remain on fire in their series finale against the Atlanta Braves.

The old adage about saving the best for last certainly applies to today's MLB odds schedule as a dandy mound matchup is on tap in the 10:10 PM (ET) game tonight.  Julio Teheran hopes to help the Braves avoid LA brooms, and the young righty has his work cut out for him going up against Dodgers lefty Clayton Kershaw.  Backing Kershaw and the home team will cost bettors $2.00 while a short 5.5 run total awaits those wagering on the scoreboard.

Los Angeles got in position for the sweep with a 10-inning, 3-2 victory on Wednesday, Matt Kemp the offensive star for the Dodgers with a homer and game-winning RBI single.  Alex Wood and Zack Greinke set the tone in Game 2, combining to pitch 15 innings while allowing only two runs and striking out 21.

Tough Draw For Teheran In 1st Dodger Stadium Appearance
Teheran is having the worst month of his season with a 4.15 ERA in five starts.  Atlanta has been able to put together enough offense to win three of those games, however, and the two worst assignments were on the road where Teheran has struggled all year with a 4.09 ERA in 11 tries as opposed to 1.48 at home in as many starts.

Thursday will mark Teheran's first career appearance against the Dodgers; he has split his six starts against the rest of the NL West this year, posting a 4.79 ERA in almost 36 IP.

Anyone who hasn't followed Kershaw's exploits in 2014 probably isn't betting baseball in the first place.  After missing all of April and struggling a bit in May, the southpaw has been an absolute ATM machine since then with the Dodgers winning his last 10 starts to leave LA backers up nearly eight units overall when Kershaw is on the mound.  He has failed to decision in his four regular season career assignments vs. Atlanta (2.45 ERA), but started two Dodger wins over the Braves in last October's NLDS.

Umpire Notes, Final Thoughts & A Free Pick
Mike DiMuro should be the umpire behind the mask for Thursday's tilt, bringing a rather pedestrian 8-7-4 (O/U/P) record into the affair.  There's nothing pedestrian about visitors winning 15 of his 19 plate assignments, however, 3-9 when the home team is laying chalk on the baseball betting board.

One would need balls the size of watermelons -- or a brain the size of a blueberry -- to bet against Kershaw at this stage.  I have neither, but also don't like laying all that chalk, so will come right back with another run-line play on LA.

Stay with us this weekend when we continue to follow both teams with previews and free MLB picks, the Braves moving on for three in San Diego while Los Angeles is home against the Cubs.

Free MLB Pick: Dodgers -1.5 (+120)

Season: 94-93 (+0.70)
